I come from the world of motorsports. So the driver needs to look into a weight reduction. If you can lose 50 lbs, the Jeep loses 50 lbs. Then lightweight clothing, crocks, and maybe shirtless. After that, make sure all the glovebox is empty (just remove it too). Look into Lexan windows too and eliminating the right side wiper. Then the hood can go. It was quite the thing back in the 70's.

Another option (because I come from motorsports and we strip down cars to make them weigh less) is to strip the wiring harness. Get rid of every wire that is not needed. In an e46 BMW, 60 lbs can be lost from just the wiring harness alone.

Start with a base Sport. Forgo all the extras. Pull the back seat when you get home. Add decent tires (Rubi takeoffs) and a basic self rescue and a basic survival kit. Enjoy.

I applaud your efforts. This was my JK that I took a similar approach to. The picture shows the doors and top, but most of the time they were not installed.

I removed the front and rear bumpers, side steps, all fenders, rear seat, carpet, spare, muffler sport bar padding. Might be more that I don't remember. Added only a few things that might have added weight. 4dr Rubi springs and shocks in order to fit Falken 35s which were the lightest ones that I could find from a major manufacturer. And some lighter Hot Rod wheels that weighed less than 30lbs. I went to 15s to save more weight. The Mopar concept Porkchop was my inspiration.

Gonna go ahead and ask what no one has asked, but why? Why worry about weight so much?

Gonna give an answer I don't think I've seen yet. Remove all of the speakers. They can pretty easily be reinstalled when wanted/needed.

My steel wheels are 28lbs, a lot of alloys won't be lighter
IMG_1526.jpeg
FWIW, the stock black steelies that came on my '21 Sport weigh in at 27.5 lbs, so OP shouldn't need to spend lots of $$$ on forged alloys. People give full sets of new steelies away for free on CL and FB.

Also...as a (maybe) helpful data point, my 2-door Sport weighs in at 4,320 lbs in Safari mode with half doors, no uppers, back seat removed/replaced with a Tuffy security deck, stock Willys rims/tires, and a full tank of gas. More discussion on weight savings here:

@ganshert WOW...love those retro-looking rims!! What brand/model are they?

@Jeep Wick Just curious...why the surprise at my Wrangler's weight? Is that abnormally high or low for that config?

Wow You are serious- Cut Out Drinking- Careful, you’re already in Obsession level territory. ? ? BTW- followed my own advice and ordered $3K forged wheels, the combo with my Toyo 35/12.50’s is 2lbs lighter than stock wheels and 285/70 KO2’s. On back order of course.

I’d like my 2 door 24 sport to be as light as possible. As there any ways to easily reduce weight? I know there’s trading out the Steel wheels for some alloy, removing the rear seat. Anything else you guys know about?
Mind if I ask what you are trying to accomplish?

I’m on a whiskey diet, I’ve lost three days already.
