I’d say I’m using it as directed. Makes it even more fun with premium fuel around $5.20 a gallon :)

15k for a mod most are doing for 35k, starting, sounds like a pretty good deal to me. The factory warranty is icing on the cake. I would suggest driving one if you are able to, that is what my dealer did to me and I ordered one. It puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it. If they do happen to release a Gladiator 392 I will order one and leave it stock. With all the talk of the 392 being canceled I would order one and if it is not your thing, I doubt you will have any issues getting rid of it. Instagram #dirtyredjl392.

Had a little ride in 392XR yesterday. Pretty sweet, but I have trouble (so does wife lol) spending $80K+ on what truly is 3rd vehicle for us :). Everyone is different and different situations. Good luck in your decision. 👍🏻

Hi,

Easy answer, you want 3 pedals get a V6, all the other options you can get on a 392, unless you're worried about mpg.

Good luck with the decision,

Regards,
Jim

I have a 392 on order. Personally, if you can afford it, I would go with the 392. My opinion is driven by the fact I've bought two cars in my life where I did not get the more powerful performance engine option and I always wound up regretting making the more sensible choice.

Currently, I drive a Grand Cherokee High Altitude with the 5.7 Hemi. When I bought it, the little voice was telling me to get the SRT even though it was like $20k more. I kept trying to be sensible saying it was silly to have a SUV with that much power and I don't need it.

While this is true, the JGC gets around just fine, I'd be lying if I didn't want more power at times. Sometimes you just want to stomp on it and grin. I've regretted not getting the SRT.

When the 392 came out with XR package, it finally makes getting a Jeep more appealing to me so I decided to jump on the opportunity. It likely won't be around long and is sure to be a sought after collector car. The Jeep 392 will be like an old school Land Rover Defender in terms of desirability and value imho. For me, the 392 is like a sensible Merc G63 without the Kardashians.

Think of it this way, ever see those muscle cars on Barrett Jackson or Mecum Autos being sold for big $$$ when back in the day they weren’t so expensive?

Yeah, same applies here most likely

I'm really torn on these new super performance vehicles. On one hand, I want one. I've always loved a performance vehicle of any kind. On the other, I know it's trouble and I'll do things I shouldn't with it. The real dilemma is that as I got older, I could afford a lot of these kinds of vehicles, but I've also gotten more able to restrain my enthusiasm, knowing I'll do unwise things with it, so I have just not bought some of them. The last one I almost bought was the ZL1 1LE. I had found a few pretty well marked down a few years ago, but hadn't seen one in person. I went to a dealer fully intent on buying it. Once I saw that it was truly a track car that was really just made to be barely legal, I came to my senses. Then I started looking at the base ZL1 and even drove one and had a color picked out. Then I retired and it struck me I wanted a Jeep. I think I have more overall fun with my V6 JL than a 650hp car, but with maybe a bit less adrenaline. I think the OP should go for the Hemi.

The 392 requires premium? Wow, that throws another log on the dedication fire you need burning inside of you!

Still, the compression ratio on the 392 is 10.9 which is lower than the 3.6 engine for which they recommend regular. Is this what the manual says or what the enthusiasts are saying?

Peak cringe. Don’t like CA? Move. Quit whining like a baby and embarrassing yourself with that sticker.
I roll my eyes every time I see stickers like this. And...it doesn't matter whether they are left-leaning or right-leaning. Why continue to stoke emotions? Aren't we divided enough already?

Hi all,

I am excited to put an order in for a JL with the XRecon package, but could use some help on if I should go with a v6 or all out with the 392.

The 392 is awesome, but I really don't need all the power. I have never been heavy on the pedal kind of driver.

Does the 392 bring any other advantages in regards of -
Axels
Coils
Shocks
Taller lift height
Anything else you know of?
Due to a control freak of a friend i ‘ordered’ an XR Rubicon. Received it and love it but if i could have a do over, i would order the 392, without a shadow of a doubt. I’m hoping my husband will see sense and trade his Raptor for a 392 and then i will have access to both :) good luck with your eventual choice, you wont regret either one really!
