Rare, desirable cars go up in value. With electric just around the corner, and the first v8 in 40 years this is and will remain rare and desirable. You'll end up driving it for free when you consider the appreciation. It may actually cost you less compared to a more common vehicle.
That very well could happen provided there are enough people who appreciate it left when you go to sell.

I was on the fence, real close to pulling the trigger on one when they raised the price out of nowhere by $3k. Then I come here and find out it requires premium ... like a one two punch, it knocked me right off the fence.

Do you really believe that someone would pay $77,000 or more for a used one a few years down the road after they're gone? I'm sure you'll always get top dollar but would you pay $77k or more? This is a real question, not goading here.

It's a great question, maybe depends on how compelling / enjoyable the new tech is. If they came out with a Wrangler with 14,000 lb ft of torque, maybe no one will miss the measly 470 in the 392.

My own experience, I bought a 2013 Dodge Viper for $77K a few months before it went end of life, and its worth probably $100K. But that model was completely discontinued of course.

I think the 392 will certainly be desirable and demand a premium if/when I'm ready to sell.

Did they put a bigger fuel tank in the hemi jeep? Because even with my V6 getting 16-18mpg I think it's too small, my range isn't that great.....so couldn't imagine same tank with hemi getting 10-12mpg.

Hemi would sure be fun though..... love those engines. THe V6 is terrible in regards to off-idle torgue. But, I love the 3 pedals.

So i know this is a 2-3 year old thread, but I think jeep missed the market once again. They really could pickup a good number of customers if they offered a mid to high 300 hp engine. Lets all be truthful here, if your daily driving a jeep, sometimes a V6 Pentastar just isn't enough umph even if your jeep is geared properly, and the 392 Hemi is just too much hp (I'm not saying that it isn't fun to drive-it Absolutely Is!). They really need to whack the 2.0L i4 four banger and add maybe the smaller 5.7l hemi in the mid to upper 300 hp range and then just bump the 6.4l to an even 500 hp and be done with it. Jeeps are heavy and shaped like a brick. Longterm durability on a 4 banger working hard all the time is not a great combination. A mid 300 hp jeep would not feel like its struggling on the highways, and yet provide enough zip off the line to put a small smile or grin on your face. I think they did that with the 4xe, but they lost me when batteries started exploding and put peoples lives at high risk. Give us a jeep with similar numbers as the 4xe, but in an ICE version. Then even kids or other younger family members could drive it or off road it without your worrying they're in a 500 hp vehicle.

Hi,

3.6 285hp

2.0 295hp

So both are close, 4.88's option helps with out of the hole

Regards,
Jim

I've been saying put the 5.7 in our wranglers for several years now! They would fly off the dealer floors if they could price them in the 60's and it's perfect platform for those not needing the 6.4, don't get me wrong I wouldnt trade my wife's 392 I'n for anything but it's because I don't get to drive it often so when I do hell hath no fury like that 6.4!! I would bet money the 5.7 would get better fuel economy over the 3.6 and now that it appears this administration is taming down CAFE standards we can dump that garbage mds!!
