A tidbit in regard to the Tazer JL

When you get your Tazer and have a chance to lets say play with it, you will notice the 0-30 and 0-60 feature and wonder, what is that all about....

Anyway, they are race timers. Yup, RACE TIMERS.

Sure not too many people are out there trying to rip the best 0-30 or 0-60 times in their JL/JLU but there are those that might want to gauge if their large tire gear swap actually helped performance, etc..

I had one guy message me and say his JLUR, automatic , pulled several 7.0xx 0-60 times. Not bad for a Jeep...

Anyway, in case you were curious what the 0-30 and 0-60 were all about, now you know.

Undoubtedly, Z Automotive already had the algorithm developed from the cars, so they figured we'll go a head and put that on the Tazer JL just for the few that might appreciate having that feature.

And in regard to features to come, I know Z Automotive has a list of features that they are wanting to add to the TAzer Jl. Two things that list are camera control and auto park disable..

.
I tried it out. Not bad for 35s....7. O4 seconds

Oh and I can't get the in motion Nav setting to work or the Quick light show via the brightness stalk to work. I might be doing something wrong, but everything else seems to work.

Funny thing about that... it sounds much more exciting than it really is, at least in my experience. I have a Yukon XL with three screens - front center stack and two flip downs for each of the two rows of seating. I paid way more than I'm willing to admit, here, for someone to enable video on the front screen (along with NAV input while in motion, unlocking some video formats, and letting me view the backup camera while moving forward). It involved shipping the computer to Georgia and having it flashed and shipped back. (So couldn't drive brand new car for 3 days.)

I do use the NAV input once in a while (my wife can punch in an address while I drive), though more often than not we use GPS on the phone.

Anyway, wanna know how many times we've had video play on the front screen? ONCE

Obviously the driver isn't going to look at it (I hope), so it comes down to, "will my front seat passenger watch TV while we drive?" In my case, the answer is a resounding, "nope!"

In a Wrangler, I'd think there's even less of a use case for video... it's too noisy on the highway.

All of that said, I plan on getting a Tazer and would unlock video if that capability is added, because why not? Above is just my experience in case it helps folks who might be weighing two devices against one another - one that unlocks video vs. one that does not.
I've got a Lockpick on my JK and like to have music DVD's playing, like Pink Floyd's Pulse and ZZ Top live in Texas. It is also great for my wife, who hates road trips. Movies chill her out on that. I'd also like it for when I'm sitting and waiting in the Jeep for her while she's in a store.

Dan, GREAT taste in music.

My JL is still in D status purgatory, but I thought there is no CD/DVD? I wonder if Tazer can get video from USB, somehow. Or is there an SD card slot?

“Sitting and waiting for her” made me chuckle... Oh, how I’ve been there!

Can someone try to hook up a video source to the cargo cam inputs please (ex. DVD player, AppleTV, etc)? I know in other models, that is how you get video in. Maybe that is why those inputs were enabled? But gotta have an hdmi to composite adapter.. if this works, I’m buying it lol.

New feature news:

Yes, another added feature to Tazer JL .....

Sway Bar disconnect delete

A terrific feature for those that mod the suspension... so they can remove the electronic sway bar, but it is also actually good for those that aren’t modding.....

With this feature, you can put the JL/JLU in 4low, command a disconnect and let it confirm that it disconnected. Then shut the JL off, enter the Tazer JL menu and disable the sway bar system.

Apparently, you can start the JL/JLU, put it in 4Hi or 2WD and it will stay disconnected regardless of speed.

From what I heard, the feature was tested and the tester drove it all over the place, on the highway etc., to make sure all was stable. Good news was, that even though there’s more body roll and certainly not as stiff, it was actually quite a comfortable ride according to the test driver.

This feature will be in the next firmware update as well as other new features!

Note: The guy that owns Z Automotive, owns a JLU. He is really making the effort to lets say dive into all the possibilities in regard to his Tazer JL offering and what he can get it to do, feature wise for the JL/JLU. Expect lots of new features to come!

Nav in motion didn’t work on rev 11.0.0 firmware. But it works on the beta 11.0.1, firmware.

Your Quick Light Show issue via the brightness stalk will be fixed in the next beta apparently.

Anyway, expect quirks to be fixed quickly as Z Automotive is lets say engaged.. very active in getting the Tazer JL up to speed so to speak.

I mentioned earlier, I do not work for Z Automotive, etc.. I do ask Z Automotive a lot of questions though.... and they are quick to answer me. You cam also contact Z Automotive from their website.

I'll post what I hear Tazer JL wise, as soon as I hear...

Hopefully, Z Automotive won't get sick of all my friggin questions.. ho, ho, ho.

I like the idea of the nav input while moving, disable the ess, disable the foglight disable, disable the seatbelt chime and the cooldown mode

How do you go about getting the Beta 11.0.1 firmware? Don't see it anywhere on their site.

I'm curious if this programmer and others will eventually allow customizing the UConnect system itself, such as backgrounds, UI themes, fonts, etc. Put that kind of functionality in there and in a way that doesn't require me to keep the unit permanently installed and I'd be happy to shell out the $300 price tag.

However, it's only a matter of time before AEV, Superchips, and everyone else comes out with a unit that'll do all the same things this one does for under $200 and without the need to bypass things or leave hardware connected.
