This is simply making a key which happens 99% of the time in these thefts…

I guess they know how to defeat the GPS tracking as my app showed it to be in the place where I parked it but nothing more. I have been in contact with Uconnect all week with no luck...I will update at some point with info I received from uconnect but my experience is that it simply does not work.
So...are many on here parked in public garages, or are you worried about theft at your home garages? Parking garage would seem to scream "steal me".Update to OP
Stolen from parking garage at apt. there was some broken glass at the site. Im not sure if they just broke in and hotwired it or what. I have both of my key fobs but someone could have read the code as I didn't know about the readers and faraday pouches but I do now!
Good to know. I appreciate you sharing!Just a heads up in certain states destroying or altering VIN tags could land you in hot water…
The downside is if thieves can remote start your Jeep, but can't shift it out of park, they will know 1,000% that they are looking for a kill switch somewhere hidden yet convenient. That’s actually great. Now I know I can remote start the Jeep if ever I want even if the kill switch is triggered on. I never used it before as I believe that you should drive as soon as the post start revs are down to normal, but hey, that’s another subject?![]()
Oh absolutely, I understand where you are coming from. I’d venture to say we are of the same mindset. That information was intended as a heads up so you could plan your explanation readily. Others, they may see what you did and do it themselves without knowing the possible issues they could face. I’d feel bad if I didn’t at least make it known just in the off chance someone here started removing VIN’s from their Jeep only to get hemmed up on a traffic stop.Good to know. I appreciate you sharing!
Not that it would stop me either way though. In this age of information, I value my privacy and security. Hence my 5% tint and invisi-VIN. Arbitrary rules & regulations would never stop me from exercising god-given freedoms and sound logic. Same reasons I carried on campus before graduating. It is on each one of us as individuals to ensure the well-being of ourselves & loved ones, no matter the cost
But I digress.. a little off into the weeds there, but I felt I had to share.
Also some states if you attempt to register the car from out of state mandate VIN checks before registration and titling in the state so good luck there... I personally would not buy a used vehicle with the VINs removed.Oh absolutely, I understand where you are coming from. I’d venture to say we are of the same mindset. The Tazers work until the thief simply unplugs them and drives off with your car... Now you install a canbus bypass and hide it somewhere which could delay a bit more. But for the love of god dont buy a tazer, pulg it right in the OBD port by your leg and think it will help. Once unplugged it no longer locks out with a pin.Taxer mini mopar theft fix
This is incredibly frustrating. SO sorry to hear this happened. Does your car insurance cover theft? You might be able to get some help replacing it, especially since you have footage.![]()
I am beyond sad! Ordered this a year ago and now it's gone because some @^#$%! ..... Guys, if you want to keep them, lock them up like fort knox!
It was stolen from parking garage of my apt in Grapevine Tx on 3-24-23 @ 2:15am
Apt manager has video of it leaving the garage. one way in and out with gate that requires fob to enter. thieves don't care about any of that stuff anymore though(look up Flipper device on youtube)
The VINS are physically in several places. I think 3 or 4 or the JL? And, from what people here have said, it's "embedded" in the digital guts, too. Also some states if you attempt to register the car from out of state mandate VIN checks before registration and titling in the state so good luck there...
