Hi everyone,
Maybe I'm being paranoid, but has anyone else been hesitant to get the JL based on the issues we've been reading about?
My friends have told me i am crazy to even consider buying a jeep.
I figure the majority aren't having issues, and they've sold a lot of wranglers.[/QUOTE

Not one of the issues being passed around like cheese and crackers here on the forum have been found yet. You're missing out!!

If it weren’t for these forums, you wouldn’t know of any issues, get in any forum and there are plenty of scary stories about any car out there.
I haven’t had any issues, and I am sorry for the people that have them, but I decided to ignore all those posts. I feel like if I read about all those issues I will bring them unto me, lol.

I have like 6500 miles on my JLU and so far no issues, the only thing that I still wonder about is battery voltage as it runs a solid 13.8-14 running down the road but when I mentioned it to the dealer they advised they checked it and said they found no problems, when I first got it the voltage would run 12.8-14 but seems like the alternator is just charging all the time now.

You will have a 3/36 warranty so any issues that come up would be covered.

My Unlimited Sport was built the first week in July, picked it up end of July and racked up about 3,000 miles in five weeks. It has seen plenty of dirt and sand, and a trip to Vegas. And yes the tires were like 43 psi (36 is where they should be), it wandered like crazy when I first got it and I didn’t even drive home without first pressing down all the fuses. If you could call those issues lol.
It’s gotten better as I drive it, which has been quite a bit. What a great vehicle I really am very happy with my Jeep!

"covered" ; but will it be fixed ?
Well that depends on what the issue is, I’m sure since the JL is a new design over the JK there is going to be issues associated the redesign but that’s the case with any new vehicle

Or no knowledge at all, just rhetoric.
Or there are real issues that some experience and when they voice them / say anything bad about Jeep comments like yours are thrown out to discredit them for some very odd reason. If you own FCA stock then I get it, you want to protect your investment in them but.............

Anywho, I had the JL and it was a pile of poo. Jeep Wave was a waste of time and I had to get the CEO's office involved. In the end mine was traded back for a 18 JK...

how many times have you called the water company to say great job? Man, that last flush. Wow. Sign me up for more.

I get to see CSR data from wide variety of industries.
% negative complaints of total POSTED feedback: >75%.
% that represents of total possible universe <2%.

The only "forum" that bucks the negative feedback skew is Amazon.

Buy what you want and if there's a problem, it will get fixed.
I've owned 2 JLs now and of the few issues I've had, I caused all of them.

(knock on wood of course)

Glad you got a JK and you are happy. My point is the negatives out way the positive in EVERY car forum and most people are making "uneducated" choices because of a few loud people and a few REAL problems while the rest of us are out enjoying the hell out of these.

Half the posters of the negative comments DON"T EVEN OWN A JL on here, they just post crap they are hearing from other people and it spreads like cancer.

For those that are actually doing something about the gremlins and aren't getting a resolution, sorry. That number I promise you is small and no bigger or smaller than any other manufacturer launching a new vehicle. Maybe those folks should just buy used and they can have less trips to the dealer. Maybe or they could end up there just as much, it's a car. I think Honda has the record in Consumer Reports for having the most reliable new cars, go buy one of those. Heck a Kia did Hell's Gate I am sure a Honda could as well.

Just my opinion but I would buy a 2017 or 18 JK and hold of on the JL.
My suggestion to the OP would be to drive the one you are going to buy and see if the dealer will let you take it home for the night as an extended test drive. During that time drive it on in the city, on the freeway and have it inspected by a reputable frame and body shop. You can probably line these inspections up in advance of your test drive and get it all accomplished before making the decision.

If you experience any issues, walk away from it and maybe test drive a different JL. I am sure there are plenty of happy JL owners out there but there are also plenty with issues. Serious issues! Are you willing to roll the dice on a $40K-$50K purchase?

People will defend what they bought and self justify it. They will put down, call names and attempt to discredit anyone who disrupts their self justification....

Unless you are set on the JL, take a look at the remaining JK's that dealers have. Not only can you save a boat load of cash on one but you'd probably have better luck getting a dealer to let you take one home on an extended test drive as dealers want those JK's off their lots and sold..
