If you tire of Tonto, I found a pretty quiet area at the end of a road called Kelvin-Florence Highway...just head south on the 79, thru Florence and after the State Hotels make the left. Itās like 20 miles into a public land thingy and there was almost nobody around...and I was just passing thru...
I love that Jeep still offers the Sport with manual windows...frankly my bare bones ā18 Unlimited was ordered manual everything and itās fantastic...if only you could get a truck this way...
I know of places but Iām in Queen Creek, on the other side of the Valley...there is a book of Az trails on Amazon...your best best is gonna be to head up the 17.
Omg dude...same here. So many stalls lol between the low torque V6 and the zero feedback clutch...this is my fourth new manual vehicle and by far the most challenging to operate properly.
Ffwd to 19k miles though and all that sh*t is long gone. Save the Manuals!
Seems like tire rotations and oil changes go hand-in-hand on these vehicles (about 6k)...and all I have are the stock all-terrain 245ās. I also drive myself nuts trying to āfeel outā the tread cupping and rotate accordingly.
I do enjoy performing this myself in the gee-raj...helps me learn...
I feel like I learned a thing! Thanks for such a good review.
After about 15,000 miles, this engine breaks in better but damn, Iāve had so many stalls Iām Churchill flippinā Downs over here. My ā14 Mazda 3 hatch stalled like five times lol. The Pentastar 3.6 is great above 2 grand but letās...
I got my 4 dr Sport last July...itās stock and can do some pretty impressive stuff. With a lift and tires you should be just fine...unless somebody wants to climb large rocks lol.
Some advice I found helpful is to always watch the road and plan where you want to put your tires. I also like 4lo...
Hey man...$200 is fine but I live in the Phoenix area...if you could hold onto them (or still have them lol) Iād be able to get out there in March probably.
With apologies, I can only confirm what you are hearing. I noticed the same noise on the driverās side latch when going offroad...Iād back it off (slightly open the mechanism) just a bit and it went away. I havenāt noticed it in a while. I would guess itās in that handle lever metal somewhere.
It was totally worth it. These pics are, ok lol. I bet if you sniffed around the stores on the way in thereās a map of the trails around the area. Then itād be carefree running in 4hi and just enjoy all the trees!
Holy cow dude...my wife wouldāve killed me hanging off of a few of those passes...
The part of Montana we did see, I agree, is very lovely. I did not want to turn around but after roughly an hour, we were halfway to the ātopā.
The big question is; how far can the 2.7 year old last in the back seat? Lol. The answer varies between a while to cranky after not very long. I did...
Take it to the Rim!
Head up to Payson, and keep going on the 87...stick with the 87 past pine, past the westbound 260 offshoot and you will see an entrance for route 300 (in all honesty I forget what it said, it was just the first trail entrance I saw). Anyway, this time of year being late...
I do have new reviews though!
Mt. Ord trail is an entrance half a mile north of mile marker 222 on 87 North (to Payson). Once you see the marker sign be ready to turn off after coming around the corner. Itās pretty tame but the views are great! Also clearly marked at the top is āmoderateā...
With apologies, an update.
A while ago in the summertime, I took the dirt road off the 79, the one with the parking lot North of the Artillery place with the flags. It was just me and my kid in the Sport...the road kinda winds up at this cattle ranch, and I think I found the trail entrance...
