Come one, Jeep! Any reason why??
I don't have a reason from Jeep, but if I were to take a guess, I'd imagine it has to do with trying to do everything possible to preserve EV only range. 21-25 miles is already bad, 13-17 would be ridiculous.

Does the Extreme tire package only come in gas models? I don't see it in the 4xe.
I know it's only offered

I know it's only offered on Rubicon and Willys models. Not sure about the 4xe models because they do have different rims than gas models.

I believe the $2K SOT was when the $2K painted top was standard. 21 392 SOT also $2K.

Just checked, no break anymore, 392 SOT $4K, damn sure no price break at $101.5K (white) and it doesn’t say Final Edition, but has a winch,
so apparently 25’s must be FE only ?
My 2021 JLUR has an SOT; my window sticker says it was a $4,095 “optional equipment” charge. It replaced the standard Sunrider Soft Top on the sticker.

Things you can't get on the Willys compared to a Sahara: Power Seats, Navigation, AC Outlet and Rear Seat USB Chargers, Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror, 18" wheels, little tires.

Things you can't get on the Sahara compared to the Willys: Wide Dana 44 axles front and rear, Rear E-Locker, Highline fenders, Rubicon Suspension, 17" wheels, 33" tires, 4:10 gears, Xtreme 35 Package.

The Willys without the Xtreme 35 package come with "heavy duty Rubicon brakes", not sure what the Sahara has.

You can get a Rubicon with everything they both can be optioned with and more, but probably way more than you need.

Good luck finding a used Willys with the 35 Xtreme Package. If you're willing to travel there are some very good deals on new Willys with the Xtreme 35 package out there.

One thing I noticed is that the Trailer Tow Package/Aux switches are now an option on the 2025 Willys, they used to be standard.

For the first few years there was a discount on SOT for models that came standard with a color matched top.

makes sense, so if you got a 4xe and put 35s on it, you prob are getting less range on the battery? So makes it somewhat pointless I guess?

when I lifted mine with 35s I lost about 4-5 MPG city. I don’t drive it much on highway.

Thanks; I noticed the hard top on my wife’s 2020 Sahara was a $2195 up-charge from the soft top.

Matt, you said your Sahara was stock, except for the 33” tires. How did you purchase one with 4.10 gearing? Stock is 3.45 for the Sahara.
You are absolutely right, Jeff. Thanks for the catch! I've looked at too many trims and fat-fingered that one... 3.45 it is on mine and standard 4.10 on the Rubicons. All the more difference between our two models because of that, actually. I will say that one of the things I like about the Sahara doing mixed city driving is that gear ratio will drop the RPMs about 3-500 lower at highway speeds, which obviously contributes to the better gas mileage, but also makes it a tad quieter in some respects. Subjectively, though, I think they've added more sound baffling in the 2024, as it's pretty good. Both are, actually, for bricks on wheels. 😆 Noise levels, of course, is not why we drive Jeeps...

I read that somewhere as well, specifically about the lack of 35s as an option. It would have definitely impacted their overall hybrid numbers and painted a very different picture of reality.

So on their MPG stats for the Xtreme 35s package, do they factor the bigger tires in or is the MPG the same on all Willys window stickers? Just curious, not that it really matters. Just wondering if they acknowledge it in their specs.

I really enjoyed the 4xe powertrain and since we mostly do city driving, on short drives, I could prob get away with using mostly electric. Just something about the technology that draws me in vs the regular old gas engines.

Personally, I wouldn't upgrade if it's a JL. If you're not planning on doing some rock crawling or some difficult / technical trails, then what would be the point? Upgrade the diff and add a decent lift. The Sahara is more than capable for moderate to difficult trails. If your Jeep is paid off, just save your money.

I went from an 18' 6sp, JLU Sport to a 22' Auto Willys XR. Which is basically a Rubicon with LSD instead of lockers. I do like the 2.0 vs. the V6 I used to have though. I took both on moderate to difficult trails pretty easily.

Do you have a JL or JK Sahara? In 2018 they had both the JK and JL overlap.

Only upgrade if you need the 4:1 crawl ratio and lockers.

Come on! Voice of reason?? None of us are using logic here when we buy big boy Jeep toys. None of this makes sense, but it’s fun!

This is a better overall rundown than I laid out. My Sahara does have the Dana 44 rear axle with limited slip differential option. Good point about the brakes. That is an area I need to upgrade on the Sahara. They are okay, but the HD ones on the XR (and the fact that they are new) are definitely better. And the pedal throw is not nearly as far on the 2024. That has always felt weird in the Sahara and I need to see if that can be adjusted. It was a first year model, built in June 2018, so they were still working out a lot of stuff. Overall, though, I've been really lucky and have had zero major issues at all. Pretty much regular maintenance, except for significantly upgrading the steering components and finally getting that rock solid.
