MetalCloak Front Track Bar Reinforcement Kit/Sector Shaft Brace

I just finished getting the MetalCloak parts installed to strengthen my steering. MC wasn't cutting any corners when the designed this bracket, super beefy.

Here's a few pics of the new parts going on Rubi. It's a pretty straight forward mod, however, there are 4 holes to drill and nutserts to install. That always takes some time. Also, my sector shaft/pitman arm nut was a beast to get broken loose. We had to put a torch on it and warm it up a bit.

Ready to mark and drill the new holes...

All finished up. Now, I've got to admit there was a surprise waiting for me with this install. My steering had always been good on my Jeep. I never expected to feel any difference in the way the steering felt after this install. I did this mod for strength reasons...the 37's are capable of applying a good amount of leverage against the frame side track bar mount and I want to beef that up.

Here's the surprise...the steering on my Jeep feels better now with the new brace/brackets in place. I didn't think I was going to feel anything from the steering wheel with this mod. I noticed on the first turn out of the garage that the steering feels more direct/responsive. So, this is telling me there must be a little flex to the frame side track bar mount running 37's, larger wheel offset. Who knew(I certainly didn't)? Next up, hoping to get the Apex Steering Boost on Rubi here soon. Stay tuned.

Thanks Amigo! How was your COlorado Wheeling trip?

Here's my itinerary: Jackson Hole, WY first(never been), then on to a ranch in Montana just outside Yellowstone (doing some photo/video assets for the ranch owner), then to Park City(more manufacturer content/family), my youngest son and I will head down to Moab for a weekend and overnighting on the trail and then onto Ouray for trails there. Super excited about it.

I was looking at my onX app for Jackson Hole. Nothing looks too technical but super pretty.

With your photography skills, no doubt we’ll see some great pics!

No Colorado for me. Maybe next year if I can swing it. Along with Moab since it’s close.
Safe travels!

Thanks brother! I had to edit my previous post to include picking up one of boys in SLC to do a father/son Moab overnight on the trails. The two of us have talking about this for a few years...finally getting a chance to do it🏜

I love this AAL Fridge Slider setup. When we are not out on the road I remove it from the Jeep to give me more cargo area. When I need it, four(4) small bolts and it's back in the Jeep ready for another adventure.

Steven, I hope you have a great trip to Moab!! my trip to CO got cut short due to a car accident my wife and son were in resulting in me heading home early. They will be fine thankfully after some recovery time. I was able to do Red Cone which was great. We got started on Wheeler Lake and made it through the first obstacle and arrived at the 2nd which was the v notch I believe. It was just pouring rain that day and we reluctantly decided to play it safe and turn back. Holy Cross would have been the 2nd day that I missed. So I’m sorry I can’t provide a better overview of those trials. I’ll be back!!

Thanks JJ! Sorry to hear about your wife and son...glad all are ok.
Thanks for the update on the trails. The rain makes it pretty tricky in spots, smart to head in at that point. How did you Jeep perform? Everything to your liking?

Thanks! Jeep did great. I had a 2021 and was ready to regear end of last year. I decided to trade and ordered an Extreme Recon instead and settle on the OEM 4.56s in the ER package before I got much further in my build. I had the Mopar 2” lift on the 2021 so swapped that over to provide a little more room for the 37’s. So I left last week for CO with 800 miles on it with 37’s. I’ll have to say it did pretty darn good. It won’t hold 8th at 80mph into any sort of head wind but does better than it did with the 4.10’s before. Highway speeds it’s fine. I have the MC 3.5 GC and steering system to go on here at some pint. Just putting on some miles first to eliminate warranty challenges should I need something done then I’ll change suspension out. Moab is on my list in the next year or two. Here it was in the rain at the mill at the beginning of Wheeler lake.
