I got the Jeep bug after my friend tossed me, our shooting gear, and our night vision gear into his ’98 TJ and showed me how amazing they are at carting my a** to places I would normally have to lug Way too much equipment. If you haven’t cruised around at night with night vision, I highly recommend it. It adds a whole new dimension (or lack of depth perception) to the experience. Since he parks his Jeep in the winter (NH salt kills cars) and I wanted a vehicle of my own to keep up, I bought a 2021 JLU Willys Sport and promptly proceeded to add a 2” Mopar lift with BFG KO2 35s. Then came the IR headlights, dual air compressor, ORO Swayloc, light skid plates, etc. Turns out that my girlfriends long haired German Shepherd loves the Jeep as much, if not more, than all of us, hence the name Freedom Fur.

Well, 6 months later with the desire to do more and too much time on my hands, I committed to purchasing a 2022 JLUR with the Xtreme Recon package and some other trims to basically get the ability to throw on 37s and have e-lockers instead of tearing out the axles on my Willys. I believe it is due for delivery in Jan - Feb. Here is a snapshot of the parts ordered for it and the parts that I will be transferring over. The biggest uncertainty is how well the stock suspension flexes. Once I have the Jeep in hand I will be doing some tests and then putting together any necessary kits to maximize articulation.

Carvana offered me $42,000 for my Willys Sport stripped of everything except for the bumpers and skids on the bottom (front/rear differentials + Engine/Transmission). I will end up posting it locally for a little more and see if anyone wants it with or without the ORO Swayloc installed, then use them as a backup route.

Current Jeep pic attached.

Very cool! Last time I drove with night vision it was in a convoy of humvees 25 years ago. Hadn't even considered doing it with the Jeep, it would no doubt change the offroad experience...

Also like the dog googles, we tried them on our GSDs driving with the top off and ended up turning back to get them from the side of the road. They weren't having it.

Brodie is pretty good with his goggles! It def helps him stick his head out the window at high speeds.

We use L3 PVS1531 goggles, sometimes the girlfriends use the spare PVS14s. Like a lot of people we started with green tubes and eventually switched to unfilmed white.

Man that brings back memories! If you haven't done this already, try looking up at the sky with those goggles (if it's clear out). I was able to see SO MANY shooting stars with NVGs that weren't visible otherwise.

Best part of driving with the top down. We can see the Milky Way all the time.

I teach people to drive with PVS 14s but I don't know if I would consider doing that for fun.
hahaha! I learned on a 14. Def makes you appreciate dual tubes.

have you checked out the Noise Fighters Pano Bridge? I just started playing with it. Running dual 14s is heavy but the way the mount allowsypi to widen the 40’ field of view out to 60’-70’ degrees is a huge help when driving at night. You can now see more than just your hood.

I've never looked into any NVG devices on the civilian side. I have too many hobbies already!

Stay away friend….between the NVGs, Jeep, and firearms, my financial future is screwed.

You forgot to include the fur missile. Sheppards are quite expensive. Doggo pays dividends in smiles at least as well as the Jeep though.

Tires arrived in 24 hours from @Discount Tire, look great next to the current 35” KO2s. Noticeably bigger.

Couldnt resist posting a pic of them next to my girlfriends 4 Mazda snow tires.

Well I pulled the trigger on a MetalCloak Game Changer 3.5” with Rocksport shocks and full package from Jeeps Are Life (they were great to deal with).

The @CavFab_mfg front and rear bumpers came in today and look AMAZING.

Also ended up ordered a Synergy e-brake relocation bracket and Teraflex Rear Track Bar Relocation bracket. Holding off on any steering parts in the front until I drive it.

My girlfriend is starting to realize the basement is filling with jeep parts and the Artec skids have yet to arrive :)
