Huge difference in what model and how it is equipped.
With my 2 door anything past mid 20's felt awful, wife hated it always felt tippy.
Tall short and narrow.

Jeep Wrangler JL Roll over angle 7AIKUpal

Now we are in a Gladiator and took all over Windrock and never really got that tippy feeling.
Of course it is long and wide.

That's an impressive list, especially for how long you've been there!

You get to Mini Moab from Rainbow Falls Riding area on 67 north of Woodland Park. Coordinates are about 39.144, -105.086. It's one of those "hey, I want to do some rock crawling, but don't want to drive far" places.

Consider going up Mt Herman Road from the opposite side to get there though. There's some fun obstacles near the top. Quite a few fun trails in that area, and you'll meander through them to get to Mini Moab from that side. That's all "the backyard" of our old place in CO, which backs up to the Front Range.

Make sure to check out Yansing Gulch (aka Chinaman Gulch) if possible. Different part of the state, but lots of fun, especially with a bit of snow cover, which can make it really challenging.
@yokramer looks like something to add for a "weekend" trip when i can come out. maybe @shagles too

I can't imagine that max roll angle would vary significantly for a 2d vs a JT. And yes, a JT is longer, but wider?

I imagine you would do something simple like hook a winch line to your roll bar and then take a high lift and crank it up and see what angle you get to before. It starts to really go over.
Somewhat off topic, and possibly not a catastrophic issue in your proposed scenario, but...

In general, shock loading winch line is a no-no; in other words, don't try to "catch" a falling Jeep with it.

i realize that there a ton of variables but now i am thinking ok
what is the lowest threshold to be worried about? 25 26 30?
I know one time when I was back in my CJ seven down a hill and lost control hit the brakes. Did a half of a J turn when it finally stopped. It was sitting at 26° which is the same as a two to one slope I know this because I’m a geologist working construction, but that was in a stock 77 CJ seven.
When my son was shopping for used or by, we looked at Land Rover discoveries, the old style with the step roof and the dealer there claimed 45 and we drove on one of their sidetracks, which was pretty unnerving. I have to admit 45° is a one-to-one slope.
So what’s your best guess everybody 25 30, 3540 ?

I've been at 34 degrees of roll while rock crawling. Don't remember what pitch I was at, but it was relatively significant.

Hello Mr. Ralph, just wanted to give a quick shout out. Saw that you are an Engineering Geologist. I'm the opposite side of the same coin; a Geological Engineer. Spent 35 years doodle bugging and poking core holes in the ground all over the world (mostly shit-hole destinations).

Poked our last hole in the ground in Trinidad, July 2023, where we got blasted with over 6,600 ppm benzene contaminant. Ended my career right there. I still miss the work and travel, but 35 years was not a bad run.

A pleasure meeting you, virtually anyway. May you get your answer, it's a very subjective question and not one I'm fond of as I have a very low threshold for that elusive "tipping point;" one second it's pure adrenalin, the next second I feel like puking. But I'm the exception, I guess.

The point I lifted my left front tire coming up Hells Gate I saw 37 on the dash before i kicked it into neutral and rolled back a bit. I dont remember if @gek was paying attention to it or not at that point?

Oh man, I would have crapped my pants as fast as that tire came up! You handled it very well.

Unfortunately, Hells Gate is on my bucket list, as is Moab Rim (I was there, but didn't want to do it by myself that day). I will be prepared though, packing a whole case of "Depends" in my survival bag after this video!

Was the guy I can hear on the video spotting you from above with hand gestures, or just talking to the group? From the advantage of the video, it appears they left you on your own to pick your line. He kept repeating "drivers side, drivers side...." But that has to be wrong.

He was on the radio talking me up.

And yea I was there so no way was I going to skip Hells Gate and it really wasnt that bad at all. Just take it slow and listen, I put myself there to lift that tire cause in my head I was like NO WAY should I go more passenger here and yea I should have. But it really isnt a scary drive up it and would recommend it with a spotter and remember to listen.

JT is on tons, so it is quite a bit wider.

Ive been through that section of Windrock with my 2 door and it wasnt anything to be concerned over.
It was just a random picture from WR. Only spot we hit that was challenging was in the ruts coming back up from Panther rock, nice little off camber coming up out of some ruts.

This was about 34 degrees in the 2-door, not sure on the 4-door. 2-door is stock, 4-door has a ~3" lift & 37s

34 degrees of pitch isn't that big of a deal (well, at least in a 4-door). Try doing 34+ degrees of roll and you'll definitely feel your sphincter tighten!

Agreed. I've been ~38 of roll in a new Range Rover, which had some sort of auto-leveler trying to keep the body flatter. It was during one of their "Driving Experience" courses, so I wasn't really concerned with damage too much.
