I just realized this morning that the apples I bought from the grocery store have gone bad. It only took two weeks!!! I’ve called my attorney to pursue legal action. This is completely unacceptable.

If you are suggesting that you should expect rust after 4 months then I disagree. Your comment is pretty funny tho.

If you get the frame mounted version for $50 more it’s e coated which won’t rust (according to them). The rust issue is on the body mounted version.
When I bought it, nothing on their website said about e-coating. I even have the screenshots.

Think of it as brown patina jk it looks terrible. I was expecting spots where rocks hit. If they gave you a rusty slider, give them a rusty hook. That's when you put your finger in your butt then put that same finger in their mouth, rusty hook. :surprised:

So the buyer “only” needs to spend an additional $2-300 so the rails are adequately coated against rust? It’s all good?
In what alternative universe does that make sense?
It’s really common for powder coating to fail over time particularly if not done well. I agree it’s premature what you are experiencing and the manufacture should do something.

But to fix it, forever, is what I suggested - prep and line-x. Many of us buy our parts bare and go this route as we know the powder coat will fail like yours is doing. Roam charges $50 less for bare rails so yes you’ve wasted $50 on their powder coating. That $50 could have gone towards doing it right.

I went with LOD and LineX. Sucks but now I don’t have to worry about rust. I will go with aluminum bumpers but RR take too much abuse to go this route IMO.

To me it’s not even so much the rust issue that bothers me, it’s the customer service. I bought another product that had issues, but it was one of early products so I gave months and months to make it right and was patient and understandable and keep my mouth close not to bash and give them plenty of time to make it right. I’m my circumstance if you don’t have all the parts ect you shouldn’t sale that product. The main issue though is never being able to get in touch with anyone the whole set up is crap!

Mine have been on about a month, and so far no issues. Mine are the frame mounted ones with the new e coat I assume. Mine were actually damaged in shipping and had a decent scrape on them that I touched up myself. Even that spot still looks good. I do not live in an area with much moisture or salt on the roads though, so my experience may not be the same as everyone else's. I actually had great customer service from Roam, I am surprised everyone is having the issues they are as Anthony was very helpful for me.

I will be buying another set of the frame mounted sliders when my replacement JLUR comes in as well. I still feel these are the best looking step / slider combos you can get as the step itself is much larger and the mounting system is better for adjustability. The are also very solid and do a great job stopping the tires from pelting the side of my Jeep with rocks. But if the product is rusting For so many people none of these things will matter for those in areas where rust is an issue. For me it's not and would buy again, but I understand how those in other areas would be concerned. (I am from MO, and if I was there still my experience may be different) I also hate to hear the solution is to have them bed-lined etc. while that would solve the issue, it is not easy nor cheap for people to do. Maybe a good option would be to have these sold bare steel like Artec bumpers etc. and let the customer have them painted etc.

That sucks that so many people are having issues on here, I will keep an eye on mine and post if anything changes before my Jeep goes back to FCA. I hope everyone gets their issues resolved one way or another.

LOL. You got great customer service because you were BUYING, not calling to complain about their inferior products.

Honestly the design is just poor all the way around. Too many places to trap water and invite corrosion.

Actually my best service was after I bought. I reached out to ask for the updated bracket that did not require nutserts, and they sent them out at no cost. I bought mine back in Feb. and did not install until about a month ago. Even long after buying they sent me the updated bracket at no cost and pretty quick.

I realize some are unhappy, but there are also a lot who really like the product. There is room for improvement, and from what I have seen they do try and fix those things. The powder coat provider change, and the update to remove the nutsert, and the redesign to not have to remove the body bolt are all things updated in the last few months. To me that shows they are listening to customers and trying to make a better product. No, it's not perfect, but I still stand behind the product based on my experience.

I know how frustrating it is when something is not right. My 2019 is actually being bought back. I originally was posting how well my Jeep drove when new, then as the parts wore in the steering became updated my review based on that. Same thing for the Roam side steps. Right now mine are great, but if they rust out in the future I would update on here. I think these forums are great to hear both the good and bad, and gives people the chance to express concerns. Just like not all JLs are unsafe to drive or have major issues, not all of the Roam products are bad. I am sure that for a lot of people in areas where salt is used and there is a lot of moisture rust may be an issue. But that goes for anything steel. Get under your Jeep and look closely at all of the frame welds and even the axles. I guarantee that there is surface rust on both the front and rear axle tubes.

As far as the customer service, I can't answer to why some have had great service and others do not. I agree that area needs some attention to make it more constant, but again not everyone has issues.

I hope yours get taken care of in a way that is acceptable to you. As a consumer you deserve to get a product and service to the quality you expect.

If I were shopping for sliders and was sympathetic to the others having these issues and not getting any help from the company, I wouldn't support the company. I completely understand that not everyone would feel the same way and I'm not trying to be the morality police.
But it appears they are also selling an inferior product.

Apples are supposed to go bad in a short period of time. Rock sliders aren't.
You're comparing apples and sliders.
