Tara, Thanks for the update. Nice to see a small start up company making big changes for their products when concerns come up. My Roam JL Rock Rails for my 2019 4 door JLUR are to hit my front door Monday as UPS tracking says. Can't wait. Can you tell me the exact difference between the constuction of the JL side Armor steps vs. The product I purchased? Is there a schematic of the 2 to compare? Also are there any videos for install on my 2019 JLUR? Thanks Mike S. From NY
Side armor mount with 3 brackets per side vs the 4 for the rock rails. Structurally I believe they are very similar and mainly the under structure is strengthened for accommodate the extra mounting point. Besides that they are very similar and at a quick glance hard to tell apart unless you know what to look for. No video out yet but I can talk you thru it or atleast get you situated and on the right track if you need it

I purchased my side armor rails in July 2018 and I am experiencing the rusting that others have complained about. I contacted Roam expecting to be offered the upgrade for $200 plus shipping as post 55 mentions. I get an email stating it will be $399 to upgrade. The only option I was interested in was the upgrade, so I continue to communicate with Anthony hoping that the $399 quote was a mistake. When I asked about how to initiate the transaction, I receive an invoice for $490. I reply, asking if that is correct and receive a reply that the $200 price to upgrade was for the first version of the rails and based on the date that I purchased, it will be $299 for me. That was still not what I was expecting, but $100 less than what I was told before. I reply again explaining that the invoice was for $490 and the response I received stated that I was informed in his original reply that it was $399 plus shipping. I really do not want to go through all of these posts. Can anybody direct me to a post where it mentions an upgrade cost of $399? At this point, my preference would be to eat the cost of shipping and return these for a refund, but I don’t think that is going to happen. @ROAM please chime in here.

I love the look of the ROAM steps but ^THIS^ (and all of the other posts like it) are the reason I did not buy from ROAM. I keep waiting for things to get better. I thought that might be happening with ROAM's post explaining the coating differences and the discounted upgrades but apparently not. I figured I may get the e-coated version as it appears that no one has had problems with that coating but reading these posts, I'd be concerned that should anything arise it becomes a nightmare to get any kind of support.

We installed two sets for folks that upgraded to the e-coated rockrails. They were both charged $399. Were local so no shipping helped a bunch. They were very happy with the rails. Sorry you’re having issues and not receiving the support you were hoping for.

OMG - this is exactly what happened to me!! Something is wrong here... and I am tired of people glossing over it and suggesting they are doing what they can etc...

If I was to go the route Anthony suggested to address their defect (could care less about who they choose as vendors in their process):

$350 paid already as an early adopter (including shipping).
Renting a torch or paying someone to remove exiting due to locktite. Note that this step is only required because the product is defective. $50
Paying to ship back unless I can figure out how to cut them in half. $89.99
TOTAL: Approximately $490

$399 for upgrade.
$89.99 shipping.
Couple of hours of my time to install. Only including because I need to do this twice due to defect. $100
TOTAL: $588.99

MY (EARLY ADOPTER) GRAND TOTAL: $1,078.99
NEW RAIL COST = $599 + $89.99 = $688.99

After bringing this to their attention the best they offered me is not having to ship them back... so I could knock $90 bucks off. Still puts me around $990 because of THEIR DEFECT! Those of you who suggest I am silly to throw in the $50 for torch and $100 time... (due to THEIR DEFECT)... even if I take another $150 off it puts me at $840!!!!

I told Anthony if this is their offer I just want a refund. Now crickets.

And some folks are applauding this guys?!?!

Keep me informed if they get back to you. I’m very disappointed with what they ended up offering. I love the look of the steps. For the first several months, when somebody asked about them, I directed them to Roam. Now when people ask or comment, I point out the rust and describe my experience.

These roam steps are garbage and a garbage company!! They new the first version of these steps had rust problems and they gave me $50 back...they suck I wouldn’t trust them and I hope they never sell another step!!!

I have $810 invested in the purchase and install and to offer $50 after 3 months of owning them.

This Anthony guy was extremely slow to respond to me and offered no solution to make me happy!! Don’t buy these steps they are shit!!!

I am also SO disappointed in this “company.” I feel their engineer is talented, but their follow through and customer service are poor at best. I have rust issues in under a year. I have emailed Anthony and have not heard back. I have posted a couple of respectful comments/questions on Instagram and they are simply deleted. The one thing they are good at is angering their current customers and making sure they do not get repeat customers.

This was why I ask for non painted steps and took them directly to have them sprayed with Bedliner! Costed me and extra $125 I think. It was worth every cent. No rust and no rock chips in two years.

There product is still great just their painting process sucks!

That’s a good idea. I don’t think that was an option when I bought mine.

I simply ask them not to be painted. It was not an option they advertise. They were happy to skip the final step

I contacted Tara on the forums. She responded relatively quickly until I sent my email address and now nothing since August.
