Roam sidestep Rust

LOD Destroyer wasn't available when I was shopping for the steps. I should've waited .

I love the look of ROAM, but not the ugly logo cut-out. I asked customer service if they could omit the logo and LED light cutouts and they refused. Didn't know about the LOD Destroyers. Thanks!

I’m glad I stumbled into this thread. I sent them a message via Facebook yesterday requesting a quote for shipping me a bumper and they haven’t replied yet... Sounds like maybe they have their hands full. For those of you who have worked with them, can you give me an idea what to expect in terms of shipping costs?

If you add what you want to cart and go to checkout, shipping will come up. I believe for the rock rails to Michigan is was around 80 bucks.

And Anthony said, it the email, that shipping the steps in couple of days, from time of order - I got the Fedex text after 2 days.

Corresponded with ROAM via email and Anthony told me they had the 2-Door rock rails in stock and able to ship within two days after placing order. I ordered on 4/17 and received UPS tracking number on 4/19. Product arrived on 4/24.

Thank you all. It didn’t automatically populate and I was reluctant to go too far into the process without an idea of what my total costs were going to be. I ordered a bumper with the mid-rise hoop this morning and the delivery charge to North of Pittsburgh was about $90, which I found to be reasonable.

An Update...

...

About an hour after the mail arrived, I got a text message from Fedex, about a shipment from Texas - the only thing I ordered from Texas was the steps, so I hope it is it... I'll find out on 05/01.

My mistake.
This is NOT it - I did ordered something else from Texas (a cordless vacuum cleaner...).

Anyways.
I got another 2 emails from Anthony.
One, saying they do not communicate with the customers about the order, until they ship it (with UPS, not Fedex... that made me double check...myself)... OK.

The second email, informed me that they are shipping the steps (+ links to installation instructions) and that I should get a UPS tracking number from... PayPal.
Not the usual "seller-customer" communication method I use to BUT it is good enough for me.

It looks like they have their hands full and the do ship out fairly fast.

M6 -> 9 Nm / 7 ft-lbs

M6 (trilobial) -> 6 Nm / 4.4 ft-lbs

M8 -> 22 Nm / 16 ft-lbs

M10 -> 44 Nm / 32 ft-lbs

M12 -> 77 Nm / 57 ft-lbs

3/8" -> 44 Nm / 32 ft-lbs

Has anyone used a product like Raptor liner/bed liner or such to spay the Roam side steps prior to install due to all the talk about rust issues? Love the look of the Roam but concerned about all the rust talk and so haven’t pulled the trigger yet on ordering them.

You shouldn't have issues with the newer versions of the Roam steps/sliders. It appears they switched to a thicker finish. I personally havent had any issues with my early 4dr steps, but I noticed on our 2dr sliders the finish was very different.

If you are concerned Raptor Liner is awesome.
I haven't used raptor liner on the Roam steps, but have on every other bare slider/bumper I've owned on a JK. It holds up really well if you follow the full cure time. Touch up is really easy if you do happen to slide them on a rock etc..

I plan to coat mine with Por15. I have not had time to do them yet, but have sanded mine....which is always interesting to do on brand new powdercoated things. When i get to it, i will post my process and results. I plan to do all components of the rails.

What are your plans on getting the POR15 on the inside? That's where mine are rusting the most.
