Rear Cargo Dome Light

So I got tired of having very minimal light in the cargo area of my JLU Willys and added this UTV dome light to the rear glass. Mounted it to the wiper cover and ran a 12v wire to the 12v power outlet in the rear. Very clean mod. Something Jeep should definitely do in the future! Plus the dome light has a red and white light option.

did the same thing for overhead lighting for driver/pass and rear cargo area, wired some white and red led's to switches and some relays, cost like 12 bucks and a 3d printer

In the 2018 JL's and into the model year 2019, the interior dome light is not bright enough / is very bad in regard to white light output.

Fortunately, the chitty dome light on your 2018 JL, can be easily replaced and the difference in the interior light up when the dome is lighted, is outstanding.

All K ratings of the LEDs appear identical - Center oval, LED is ~6K (WHITE) and so are the 4 side Led's on the revision.

There is a wire channel that runs from the wiper housing to the topside of lift glass then the wires run through a wire loom into the hard top. Run your 12v wire through that route to where your wire connectors are inside the jeep. I used a deutsch connector to somewhat match the factory connectors. Then ran the 12v wire to the 12v outlet and spliced it into the power wire. Back to the wiper motor housing, I grounded the dome light to a metal plate on the wiper motor. Here are some pictures.

FWIW: the 2-door has a "cargo light" underneath the 12v outlet (in the square where it says 'JL' in the photo above).

Some people have upgraded it.
