Dome light too dark

I have a fishing rod holding nylon webbing strap that is permanently attached just rear wards of my sunvisors. The dome light in my Jeep is too dark to do be useful at night so I clip one of these USB rechargeable ring lights to the strap and it is much better than using my teeth to hold the small flashlight I keep in the center console.

It is pretty bright, I dont use the dimmer that came with it. I wired it to the dome light and it lights up the interior pretty good when the back glass is shut and I open a door.

this one is just like the brawlee version that I had on my JK. I do recommend that you get some 3M automotive tape for this, the shape of the JL glass is curvier than the JK and it needs the extra adhesive.

I have the Brawlee and it’s pretty good. I did have to use some cyanoacrylate glue at the ends to get it to stick properly even with the 3M tape.

I’ve put a book on the passenger seat and took photos with the Brawlee, the reading spotlights on the the dome light turned on, and the smartphone ring light. You can see the difference in the sequence of images below.

It seems in 2019 they changed the dome light function to include all the over head lights.
