Cheap Solution to Crappy Dome Light - One Touch Top

I’ve been trying to find an inexpensive way to improve the interior dome lighting in our JLUR with the one touch top. The tiny lights on the sound bar are fairly useless. I tried a $2.00 LED light from Harbor Freight, that looks like a house switch plate. I strapped it to the visor with Velcro, and while it worked fairly well, it looked pretty funky. I found a better alternative in the local Meijer, of all places. It was only $10, and attaches with Command strips to the header panel. It clears the sound bar by about 1/8” or so, allowing the top to open fully, without interference. A simple click of the lens turns it on and off. Doesn’t look too bad, really. Thought it might help someone out.

I have always been a fan of red interior lighting. I changed out the bulbs on my pickups and other vehicles right after buying them for this same effect. Love the way it looks!

I see you have a 2018. They changed the dome light in 2019 or 2020 so they all come on with doors and dash switch. Push for single is still functional. Very simple to change the unit.

Thanks for the info. I didn’t know that. The nice thing about the light I added is that the passenger can click it on easily, instead of the driver having to do it. I’m going to check into the light upgrade, though.
