Higher levels of calcium seems to be a thing of the past. I do appreciate your post none the less.

Calcium and LSPI
The concern about calcium levels stems from research showing that high concentrations of calcium-based detergents can increase the likelihood of LSPI events. LSPI is an abnormal combustion event that can cause severe engine damage, such as broken pistons.

In response to this issue, the oil industry introduced the API SN Plus and later the current API SP categories. Oils with these ratings manage LSPI by:
  • Reducing calcium levels: Typical calcium levels were reduced from 2,000-3,000 parts per million (ppm) to lower levels, often around 1,200 ppm or less.
  • Increasing magnesium levels: Magnesium-based detergents are used to replace some of the calcium, as they have little impact on LSPI.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Suitability
Modern Pennzoil Ultra Platinum formulations are designed to meet or exceed the latest industry standards, including ILSAC GF-6 and API SP. This means they are inherently formulated to be LSPI-safe for turbocharged engines.

While some older formulations of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum might have had slightly higher calcium levels than regular Pennzoil Platinum (e.g., 1029 ppm vs. 780 ppm in one test), these levels are still within the acceptable range for modern API standards and significantly lower than the levels found to be problematic in older, non-certified oils.
Now PUP is also API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 🤩👍

Guys, I think I'm going to get one of those thingies that has a camera and goes inside your engine and shows you what's up

Blackstone did a comparison of 1,000’s of UOA’s in there data base on two different engines. This is their take.

Now, Project Farm's tests are sounding credible to me, in his test PUP beat the crap out of Red Line that had boatloads of additives. PUP's less is more technique is amazing 😎
I checked out these Project Farm tests you mentioned. Interesting garage tests. Here are the final results for what they are worth.

You can’t rank oil based a few ppm difference in wear metals. Every UOA company will tell you there’s no difference between brands. Viscosity, engine type, and engine use have more effect on wear metals than the brand. No official wear study uses UOA’s.

A UOA doesn’t show engine deposits which are more likely to kill an engine than it wearing out.
I am going to respectfully disagree with the UOA companies. Valvoline is like pouring water into an engine. That $h!t is thin.

So I should run 5w40 if I own a subaru ?
Good example of a low quality oil performing well in wear metals because it’s a grade higher than the rest. Unfortunately there is a following of Brotella in the Subaru crowd….

This is ok, Oil is kind of a personal preference. Let say the data englobe all sort of drivers and driving conditions. That may or may not reflect my driving habit or condition and maybe the best oil in the list is actually a really poor choice for my specific condition but maybe provide exceptional protection in other condition resulting it in being the best.

What I try to illustrate is the aggregate data is nice but still validate it in your setup and not blindly run what have the best rating. If you are in that sort of thing that is.

Amsoil won by fluke. Let's have another test

You need to stay off the internet. You have changed oil brands, and viscosity at least 20 times since you joined this forum. That's not including all the other crap you've done to your Jeep. You constantly post random stuff, then argue with everyone whose opinion is different. You even have a mechanic you harass then ask us the same questions just to argue and repeat what he tells you. I can see why other forums, and Facebook groups banned you.

Same thing happened at the BITOG forum. I try not to hold it against him as he’s in the learning stage. He’s gained a little knowledge and thinks he knows everything. In a decade he’ll realize you never stop learning and will pass on his knowledge to the next 30/30. 30 years old, 30 years of experience….🤣

The sad thing is you are helpless to get me banned here, feeling so sorry for you grudgy granny!
