Amsoil dealers and fanboys are furious and are calling Lake Speed ignorant 😆
So Amsoil fanboys are telling us that Amsoil knows more about making oil than the behemoth called Shell. Shell probably sells more oil in a day than Amsoil does in a decade. Nobody is more annoying than Amsoil and Tesla fanboys.

Interesting video. Any idea why the metals in each column don’t add up to the totals they come up with?

Where are they posting these furious comments, in a Ram 2500 forum? I didn't see any in the video's comments. I'm curious what they think he did or said wrong, why they think these test results are invalid or his interpretation of them is wrong. He did not bash Amsoil but the video certainly didn't support paying a higher price for it than PUP.

So, two different oils were tested in a completely uncontrolled environment using uncontrolled methodologies, which were then validated using a couple of $40 used oil analysis tests?

And...those results definitively show that one oil is better than the other?

Alex, I'll take "Things That Should Be Labeled Bovine Scatology" for $1000, please.

Not all of them are classified as wear metal but from my knowledge the number does not indeed add up from what I know.
Manganese is a additive, I think titanium is also one.
Maybe they also took the virgin sample and removed some of the by product in the count.

At the end of the day I retain application dictate the chemistry and simple as it is, is engine does not like Amsoil.

Q: Does a bull squat when it drops a loaf ?
In the case of this supposed revelation, it would not matter, bovine scatology still smells the same...

At the end of the day I retain application dictate the chemistry and simple as it is, it remains unknown whether or not the engine does not likes Amsoil.

I didn't get a sense from him that one oil was definitively better than the other or one is good and one is bad, just that PUP came out slightly better in this particular set of tests on this particular engine. Maybe I skimmed over that part?

I use Amsoil, but not 0W40.

There is NO WAY that any determination can be made about either oil using a used oil analysis test, which is NOT designed to determine wear. You can build a trend, but that would take hundreds of tests, not two or three.

The variations in operating conditions alone prevent a definitive determination, and you would not use a UOA to quantify the results. Extremely complex, accurate, and controlled testing methodologies and tools would be required, and a UOA is not it.

All it takes is a failure to purge the test equipment between tests properly, OR have residual metals left in the engine, and you have skewed/inaccurate results--remember, we are talking about parts per million of wear elements.

This is 1000% marketing BS, or is intended to be that. I put zero credence in this "test".

The guy did say he happened to take a long road trip hauling stuff for the first and last test. That alone has the potential to skew the results.

Some people will read too much into all those numbers and some will brush them off. Some good points and some stupid points will be made by both sides. No concensus will be reached, as always in every oil thread in every forum I have ever seen.

Amsoil remains my preference, but I'm not glued to it. I use other oils, too.

remember the good old days at the county fairs when they would drain the oil out of the briggs and straton lawn mower engine and run it tell it failed......that was a real test.....
just got three more jugs of PUP 0w20 delivered via amazon.... still waiting on the PUP 5w30 for my mazda to be delivered tho...seems like 5w30 PUP is in short supply...amazon keeps delaying the shipment and my walmart said not available as did O'rielys and napa said $65 a jug yikes.....
