Haha yes...I typically drive at night to avoid rush hour traffic...
And why do we call it "rush *hour*"? Wouldn't that imply that it was *only* an hour long? Or is it called that because it adds an hour to whatever time it would normally take to get somewhere?

Oh well... 8 more days and I'm headed to a place where the high temperature each day is 30F lower than it will be in Houston. Hell, that's like *winter*... Just did some measurement in my garage and if I shuffle some things around, just *maybe* the JL will fit in there with my Harley and my wife's car... It would be a very tight fit though...

Here in Houston travel is never measured in miles it’s measured in time, lots of ppl outside of H-Town just don’t understand, they always say it’s only 30 miles to this place or that place but here in Houston we say that’s one hour to go here or there and lots of times that one hour only gets you 10 miles...

No matter where you are and where you want to go, it's always 45 minutes to an hour to get there... Well, unless someone sneezed, blinked, or farted while they were driving on the freeway and then it could take *forever* while they clear the twisted metal... :(

Heh Heh, I don't know, living in the DESERT is pretty handy--

It's 10 minutes to "WILDERNESS" and 20 minutes to 1000 yd shooting-

City life is a little different !

All I had to do was step out on our back porch and I had anywhere from 500-600 yds of shooting, depending upon the direction and where the cattle were grazing that day. That was pretty good since if you were deer hunting around there, you were lucky to see one 100 yds away from you since the trees were so thick.

Yeah, thats obviously better than mine--except for the HUMIDITY/HEAT !

My place in Fernley, Nv has a very low humidity of 5percent(usual) and 95 degrees is OK

I always wanted a mountain cabin that I could fish off the back porch, but

Sure as hell if I had ever got one--it'd be a burned crisp now--seems like all mountain property is in danger anymore-

Yeah, 95F with 5% humidity is not bad. 95F with 95% humidity SUCKS...

There's no perfect place to live. Each is subject to it's own sorts of problems or natural disasters. It's all a compromise. Of course, some places are definitely worse than others... :) And for some reason, liberals seem to flock to those places...

Not a Jeep owner yet. I still drive my 2008 Xterra Off Road. I rented a 2018 JKU for 1100 mile trip to Florida and fell in love.

Back to my original point. If I followed the Xterra forums, I'd have expected my front diff to blow up, my radiator to crack leaking coolant into the transmission destroying that, for the timing chain guides to fail blowing up my engine and a host of other issues.

None of that has happened and I have gotten approaching 11 years problem free out of it.

Wonder how many of you happy with ur jl guys examined all of your visible frame welds. After looking at over 2 dozen i havent found a single one without porous welds ans slag. You are right to stay away from the jl until the bugs are worked out.

I have 5200 miles on my JL. It is the best jeep I have owned to date. ( have owned 4 JL's, all bought new) I guess like everything else there are some defective ones made . Mine steers amazingly at high speeds. I tend to drive fast on the highway. Every weekend I head to the lake and drive 85-90 all the way. Runs down the highway like a suburban. I also love the 8 speed transmission in town. It took me a while to get used to the auto stop but now I like it. The comfort improvements are also nice. Lastly, my JL gets way better mileage that my last 3 JL's which is a bonus.
I take it you couldn’t decide between 4 different colors so you just bought all of them?

As the owner of a JL that has perfect steering who also owns a Yukon XL (aka Suburban), I can say that the JL definitely does not “run down the highway like a Suburban.” LOL It drives great and is super fun, but you feel every bit of 80MPH. I would not go 90 in mine.
