Let me change that. Not very bright to drive in 4x4. Thought common sense would take over. You can do it but pretty dumb too.

Driving on dry pavement or highways with a 4x4 vehicle (especially while the center diff-lock is switched on) is always a bad idea. You should aim to never take your 4x4 out on the dry pavement, as four-wheel drive simply isn't suited to such a surface, and this can increase the risk and danger while you're on the road.
You can run 4X Auto in any condition. It is an “all wheel drive mode” designed to be run in bad weather.

In a 392 off-road + is like sport mode. It can be used in 4auto on dry pavement in addition to 4H off-road.

It's more of a "4x4 on demand" than an "AWD mode". There is a marked difference between the 2.
There is as much difference in AWD between manufacturers as there is here. Either or, it is close enough for this discussion.

Try 4Hi, off-road +, then turn on the rear locker. Drive a bit and switch to 2Hi see if the locker stays on.
my new Rubi hasn’t come in yet so I can’t try it.
Wait, you can lock the rear in 4 hi when off road + is engaged?

my 2023 is in order, but my JK would only allow locking in 4lo.

Yep, 4H can lock rear and disengage Rubicon swaybar with off road + set (up to 18MPH for swaybar, not messed with the locker yet in 4H personally). And in 4L, with off road +, you start in 1st in the auto vs 2nd without off road +. There's other traction control things and whatnot engaged in both 4H and 4L with off road + turned on.

So when I ordered I knew what I was getting into with lockers, sway bar disconnect, and the 4wd I chose. But what on earth is this off road plus button?

Off Road + was developed for the Mojave Gladiator, which is geared towards high speed off-road driving. FCA/Jeep thought it it would be a good idea to add it to various JL models as well.
?correct answer!

I pushed the offroad + button today. All I noticed is that it opened the offroad pages app on my stereo.
Didn't really notice any mechanical difference.

Do you have 4H auto? If I have it in 4H auto I notice my shift points are higher, shifts are quicker, and throttle response seems to be more responsive. That's on the road.

That's very odd. Being in 4 auto shouldn't do any of that, it should be the same over both 4wd modes. In saying that, who knows with all the electronic crap we have. I don't think I've ever tried Off Road + in 4Auto either as a matter of fact.

I believe it does, however I can only speak clearly on 4H auto. I do use off road + while offroading in 4L but with the low gearing I don't think it is as noticeable.

Also, when it 4H auto when coming to a stop engine braking is more noticable.
