Here is what I did
Because of the Baxter adapter I had to make a bracket to remount the UPR up and away from the oil filter
The bracket is a piece flat stock bent at a 45 degrees at each end and held in place with the bolt that holds on the plastic motor cover
That gave me the room under the UPR to put a 90 degree fitting for the hose
The hose runs down the front of the motor and lays across my front bumper skid plate with a ball valve
The only time I have to move the UPR is to get better access to the oil filter
I used the UPR oil drain kit

With my set up the can is more like a air oil separator and the long hose is the oil storage
My original plan was to run the hose to a lower can put I had no room to mount it so I went with a long hose

Just out of curiosity, I wonder if a heavier weight oil would stop some of the oil consumption through the PCV vale. Anyone know?

Yes
I think 5/30 oil would help. That's what I use
Here is what I also recently discovered
I little over 2 mouth ago I installed the RPM extreme JL fan controller
It appears That it has reduced the amount of oil that my catch can is collecting
I have seen lower coolant and oil temps by 25 to 30 degrees
On average I am running 188 to 195 coolant temps and 190 to 195 oil temps
I think that with lower oil temps it is less likely to atomizer / oil mist keeping it out of the PCV system
A week ago I installed the updated PCV valve and in about 900 mile I will check the can and see if it made any difference

This is how the RPM extreme JL fan controller works

NORMAL CANBUS OPERATION:
When the engine is running the PWM fan will run at a low Idle speed (15%).
When the module reads the engine temp it will command the fan to the desired %.
Fahrenheit
199 degrees = 30%
205 degrees = 50%
212 degree = 75%
218+ degrees = 100%

http://www.rpmextreme.com/Product/311/Jeep-JL-PWM-FAN-CONTROLLER.aspx

The RPM extreme JL fan controller is a game changer and I no longer see oil and coolant temps as high as 235 degrees

Your factory cooling system works like this
Thermostat starts to open at 190 and fully open about 212
The radiator fan comes on at about 15% fan speed at 221 and about 75% fan speed at 231 degrees

The RPM extreme fan sounds like a nice setup but a bit pricey compared to the Derale 16795 PWM Fan Controller @ approx $161. The Derale is capable of multiple electric fans up to 65 ampere capacity and has a built-in Air Conditioning override circuit. With the ability to adjust fan speed from 0-100 percentage as needed.
Edit: Link to fan @ Derale web site. Evidently Derale no longer makes the 16795, the 16797 is on their site now. The 16797 is approx $239.99 at Amazon. Link

The Derale 16795 PWM Fan Controller Looks like put I an not sure you would bypass the factory set up meaning you will get a fan not working code on the dash cluster or something like that
The RPM extreme take the signals from the computer and programs in the module to turn on the fan at lower temps. The kit also comes with a resister that you install to trick the computer so you get no check engine lights

I have 16k on my 19 V6, thinking about updating to the new PVC. Maybe avoid future problems.

For those who care, I did some poking around while my brother had a 2018 JLU Sahara apart today, to see what changed about the PCV valve. The hole size difference we were all commenting on doesn’t actually exist.

The end stem on the camshaft that the pcv valve fits onto fits tightly into the pcv. The small hole on the new one actually stretches out around the camshaft when installed.

I haven't had an issue with mine yet but I was looking at the pcv system and it seams that every body is focused on the hole that actually is a seal that goes over the camshaft. Maybe is has more sealing area for the shaft end and thats where the oil was getting sucked in from, I'm not sure.
I haven't seen anybody open up the old pcv valve and the new one to compare the actual insides as well.
I found the pcv bolts to the cover and the hole goes to the end of the camshaft. I am trying to find out what the piece is on the end of camshaft but I cannot find any info at the moment. #7 is not listed on parts.

It's apparent the change in PCV's must be internal so unless someone starts cutting em up we wont know.

@mwilk012 is correct the separator is not serviced

Thanks for identifying what the part is and what it does guys.

I know the pcv valves are not readily available and I don't think someone will go ahead and cut one open to find out.

OK, so the million $ question is the smaller hole correct and perhaps the hole gets bigger when it's worn by the nub on the end of the camshaft?
