I have reviewed many threads this forum but the most people are wanting bigger but my interest is different.

I am wanting new tires for my daughters JLU. She never leaves the pavement but wants the off-road look. The tire size I am looking for is 265/70R17 load range C. I am thinking more of a road tread but with some sidewall lugs. We want a smooth ride, good road manners, not too loud, yet not a car tire look.

They will be going on stock Rubicon wheels. Have thought about Nitto G2, Falken Wildpeak A/T3W as options.

Any personal experience with similar requirements will be appreciated.

P.s. We have KO2 on another Jeep and she likes the look but I am thinking a little more street tread.

The problem is there aren’t really passenger car tires with big sidewall lugs.
I’m not a huge fan of KO2s over others, but was there something you didn’t like about them?
I think all the typical A/T tires (Falken AT3, KO2, Ridge Grappler, Toyo ATIII, Coopers, Mickey Thompson A/T) are very acceptable, if not good, on road, with a little more noise than a passenger tire.
If you can’t live with that then you need to lose the sidewall lugs…

I have been running the Falken AT3 on my 2016 Chevy 3500 dually. I wiped out a set of the KO2’s in 12k miles and they rode rough. These Falken are very smooth and handle great on that truck. They float on the sand at the beach as well

kind of agree here. i have the wild peak and have had K02s. tires are purpose built. hard to have the lower noise and smooth tire with off road look. going to have to put up with the noise. i hardly ever go off road and when i do, it’s not rough stuff but i want to make sure that if there’s a heavy snow or if i have the opportunity, i can get through it.

I have loved my Falkens, btw. Replaced my wife’s bald KO2s at 30some thousand miles, my Falkens still have plenty of tread. Both ride/sound similarly, think there’s more snow/wet traction with Falkens.
That’s pretty nit-picky but if I were buying I would go with every other option I listed before KO2s.
The smart move, however, is to just wait for new takeoffs someone is selling on here or Facebook.

Cooper AT3 XLT is designed for the exact thing you are looking for. I had the same requirements for my Ram truck as I wanted something toughish looking but 99.9% of the miles were road. The coopers are basically the most off road looking highway tires you'll find, they last forever, ride smooth, and are very quiet.

BFG also makes the trail terrain which is similar in that its basically a tough looking highway terrain.

How are they in the rain, any experience?

Another vote for the Falken Wildpeak at3w. Wife’s Jeep spends lots of time on the pavement and they are a great handling tire, lots of grip but still do great off road, great in the snow as well. Plus they definitely have a nice look to them

Fantastic, I put 40K miles on a set of the coopers before I traded the Ram and I live in Tampa so we got plenty of rain. I'll also mention the coopers are one of the lightest tires in the category so it wont be a hit on MPG or handling like some of the heavier recommendations.

i like the KO2s ( have them on my JKU). As for pull-offs, they are generally 285/70/17 so taller and I really want to keep the stock diameter to keep the center of gravitystock and with the gearing of her sport, keep the acceleration like the OEM size. As a test Iput the 285/70/17 on hers and the ride, stopping, accelerating was not as good as stock. Thus by going 265/70/17 we keep the same diameter, stay closer to stock weight and performance.
