+1 for the RT Trail tires. Only thing left to do is pick your size. I had five 37s installed for 1700 and never looked back. About to rotate them for the first time and they show zero wear, even with a couple smokey burnouts ?

How's the noise level with those tires?

The noise is there but not bad. It has more of a higher pitch chirping sound vs a low humming that I get from the MTs. The more aggressive you go the louder the tires get, just remember that.

Load range E tires are engineered to carry a heavy load. They usually have thicker sidewalls to accomplish that. Most E rated tires are somewhat to significantly heavier. In 35'' and larger tires, there is a more compliant ride due to the size of the carcass. On the smaller OEM sizes, the compoartive stiffness will be greater.

So translation...they will ride like car with steel wheels (no tires)!

Thanks for the information. This my first Jeep and all the tires I purchased prior were all for sport cars or sport sedans. I'm still learning the ropes on the Jeep thing.

Yeah, E rated tires are meant for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks and cargo vans. Some like them on Jeeps as they are more able to take off road abuse at low pressure in the rocks. Or the brand and size of tire they want is only offer in load range E, and they are willing to accept the trade off.

Look for Load range C in LT rated tires and SL or XL in P rated tires. service index number over 117 are usually going to be D rated or above in the sizes of tires popular for our Jeeps.

I have run P,C, D and E load and never had any issues with E load on any of my jeeps. currently running Micky thompson baja boss at in E load around 30psi and super smooth and quiet and good mpg.

while not the cheapest tires I sure love my Mickey Thompson baja boss at's 255/85-17 they are aggressive looking yet quite on the road. absolute perfect fit for stock wheels and taller than most 35's. some don't like the skinny look but if you don't mind it look at a set of those. spend once cry once.

What lift are you running on the pic with the 255 85 17 Baja Boss ATs? I just threw a set on my ‘25 Willys and I love the ride…just trying to decide how much lift to go with. Old post I know, but any info or other pics are much appreciated! 😁

AEV 2.5. rides and handles very well. Also 1" BORA wheel spacers work great and give a bit better look.
