He already has a Rubicon and wants beefier tires than what the Rubicon has.Your best bet for getting inexpensive tires for your Rubicon is to just buy a set of Rubicon 33" KO2 takeoff tires. You can get them for dirt cheap with super low miles, because so many of us go get new bigger tires right away as soon as we got our new jeeps.
You can find them regularly here on this forum for like $1200 for a set of 5 wheels with 5 tires, with 500 miles on them. Or just the five tires alone for like $800. Which is absurdly cheap, considering just my 37" tires alone cost like 3x that much. And the 33" KO2's are pretty good tires, and look nice. It might be what you already have though, so it might not feel like a huge upgrade other than they'll look nice and new.
I agree, I'm running Maxxis AT811 and love them. Quiet beyond belief and smooth ride.Check out Maxxis tires. I have been running Maxxis Razr AT for three years now.
Thanks for your reply. I will use them mostly for street, some sand no snow. I have KO2's now with 25K miles on them but looking for some tire with a little balls.@stoowie how do you plan on using these tires? Street only, sandy beach, mud, snow, rocks? Knowing that might help in getting the right type of tire that meets your requirement of “with some body to them and aggressive but don't want to spend a fortune.”
Yes these and also the Bronco Sasquatch tires - GY Territory MT, which are starting to catch on with other automakers now. I got a set of four for my JL for $800 shipped, and then picked up used one on ebay for $70 to use as a spare. I now have them on both my JLU80 and Silverado TB and I like them actually more than the Duratrac. Same traction but lighter and quieter.Lot's of new JL's with XR packages being sold which come with KO2 35's (315's) and you often see these as takeoff's being sold on this forum, Facebook and Craigslist.
If they are primarily for street and looks, buy whatever pleases us aesthetically and your ears are willing to put up with. Those KO2 you have are actually pretty good all around tires. Thanks for your reply. I will use them mostly for street, some sand no snow. Michelin Defender m/s2 - reviews speak for themselves. No, they aren't going to make your Jeep look rough and rugged, but they will ride better and have longer tread life than most A/T tires. Since you said you don't off-road, mostly street and maybe some sandy beaches, the Michelins are fantastic on sand and won't dig like some A/T or M/T tires do (of course, always air down), best tire for wet traction IMO and are very quiet. I prefer function over looks any day, but your money, your call! Thanks for your reply. I will use them mostly for street, some sand no snow.
