After a lot of research, I settled on the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4s for my new Willys.

I really like the Coopers but if he does moderate trail riding I'd recommend the Discoverer AT3 XLT over the 4s. Do you go off road with those much, just curious?

Hi all,

Looking at changing out my tires.....sounds like I have a pair of options to choose from. Both 35 inch and I do moderate trail riding.

1. Toyo Open Country A/T
2. BFGoodrich KO2s

I was hoping for Falkens, but they are backordered until who knows when. I have the stock BFGs now, but dont know much about the Toyo's. Hoping for some opinions on either brand.

Thanks All!!!
You will get as many answers as there are tire choices here. Being in WI I personally would narrow it down to a tire that has the "mountain" symbol for snow use. I have the K02's on my current JLUR and had them on my old JKR. Not the best for soupy mud, but other than that have been a great overall tire choice.

Not really. I have a Polaris Ranger for my off road fun. I just wanted a good quiet Severe Service tire for winter driving, and light off road.

If you want a tire that is quiet and smooth on road but is great offroad at well, take a look at the Milestar Patagonia MT. Awesome hybrid tire.
How does it affect mileage?

Just ask @cosine he knows!

I currently run the Patagonias, not a bad tire for the price I paid (got my 295/70/17s for only $129 each in late 2018 before our ordered Jeep arrived at our dealer). I've got a set of 35" Mickey Thompson ATZ P3s ready to go on it next week.

Impressed w/ the Patagonia road manners, they are a smooth and pretty quiet tire for the aggressive tread pattern. Not as impressed w/ the tread wear and performance in cold & wet conditions. This is a tire that has nice grip in dry conditions, but will wear pretty quickly IME, but that's just what I've observed.

I would run either the BFG KO2 or the General Grabber ATX. Both good AT tires rated for winter use.

They're on the lighter end of the weight spectrum, for the size. In mostly stop and go driving, I average 19+ mpg. I currently have a set of 38x13.5 Pat's, and my 19 Rubi is lifted just over 4" and has the 2.0/8-speed drive train on factory gearing.

After about 30k miles, they have been starting to slip in wet corners until they warm up. Earlier in their life, I never had any slippage in everything from the initial rain that raises oil out of the roads to full on torrential downpours and roads flooded over enough to not see lane lines. Several months ago, we had a couple of bigger snow events, and they tractored through it uneventfully.
