Greetings all-

I have a JLUR on order and plan on installing the Mopar 2" lift and running Nitto Ridge Grappler 37 x 12.5 x 17 on 17 x 9 wheels (exact make and model TBD). The question I have is this: What is a good offset? I have been poking around on Tire Rack just to get ideas and I noticed that many of the wheels they have spec'd for the JL Rubicon have a -12mm offset. Is that the recommended offset?

Any recommendations/advise would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Details on my JLUR that is on order: Firecracker Red, A8, painted fenders and hardtop, leather, cold weather, tow, safety, entertainment upgrade, headliner, steel bumpers, LED, proximity key, upgraded black wheels with polished lip (which will go on sale with tires and wheels as soon as I get the Jeep)

On a 17x9 -12 is 4.5 back spacing. That's what most run on the JK on the JL rubicon that's going to stick out a bunch. I keep pondering a 17x9 +12 and 35/12.5r17 tires.

True. The JLUR axles are wider than both JK and also the other iterations of JL. For this reason, you have to be a little less aggressive with offset. I’m running stock suspension and stock KO2s for now. I moved to a 9” wheel and a +1 offset. The combination of the extra width and offset from the stock wheel already pushed it outside the fenders. And this is fine for higher lifts and subject to personal taste. But...I was surprised at how they sit. For my personal taste. This combination worked great.

Does anyone know what's the factory specs are on the wheel that comes with JLUR? I'm in the same dilemma as I like the wider stance and ok with a 1"-1.50" tire sticking out but anything more than that, I'm not sure. I had it narrowed it down to 17 x 9 wheel with -12 offset and 35" tire but still debating if I should go with 0 offset. I wish someone posted a picture that had -12 offset wheel with 35" tire.

Thanks everyone for the replies. After thinking things through and factoring in everything I’ve read, it appears that it comes down to a combination of backspace, wheel width and offset. I plab to use a 9” wide wheel so that a 12.5” tire will fit well without ballooning. I do want some tire extension beyond the stock fenders, but not “cartoonishly” wide.

I suppose it will take a little bit of calculating on my part to determine the correct combination or maybe I will luck into seeing another forum member’s combination and just copy what they used.

Thanks again for replies!

I’m in the exact same position. Would like to see photos of -12, 0, and +12 offset
on a 4.5 backspacing on a 9 inch wide wheel.

Is there a difference on a Rubicon bs Sport/Saraha? I read that the axles are wider on the Rubi...

I've custom ordered 18 X 9 with +18 offset with Mojito green accents to match my JLUR. Planning to use 35 X 12.5 BFGs. When I get the rims I will Post pictures I hope.

9 inch wide wheel on +18 offset. These are 295/70/17. Use https://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp. This site will help tell you how much a wheel will poke. I used the +18 so they stick out just a smidge...

What wheel brand/model? I am upgrading to larger tires on my Sport S JLU and like the amount of tire sticking out of the fender.

-12 will trash your paint with rocks, mud, grime, etc. It may also wreck your windshield by throwing stones into the air, or it could wreck the windshield of the car behind you.

I always advocate +12 to +25 range for offset on a Wrangler. The ones I'm running are +10, but they are 8.5" width and I'm running 285/75 tires so there isn't a lot of tread outside the fenders.
