I prob keep the valves open 30% of the time - maybe I'm getting old. interestingly, I had found mine to drone really bad when I first got it, but after about 500 miles, it sounds much better. not sure why - I've put aftermarket exhausts on countless cars, and I usually found them to get a little louder over time. what's also interesting is that it seemed to drone at just above idle speeds (1k - 1.2k RPMs), whereas most cars with drone tend to have it closer to 2k RPM. so it droned for me around town, not on the highway. very odd

I really do think this exhaust is the best of both worlds - docile when you want it, but even with the button off, I like that they programmed them to open when you get on the throttle hard. the transition sounds amazing

Honestly, it's the perfect storm. They gave us options, what more can you ask for. Quiet or loud, or let the skinny pedal decide. So glad they did this.

Just had a local guy do this for me to replace the factory rock magnet. Dual 3ā€ in/out with internal X pipe. He added some cones at the entrance to the muffler to tone it down just a tad.

I love the stock sound with valves open. The sound I don't like that is kind of like drone is when it is in 4cyl mode around town. I sounds like, well, a 4 cylinder. Offroad + mode prevents mine from going into 4 cyl mode.

Other than that it sounds like a boss. I personally like it open all the time, but drive through the lines dropping the kids off with different settings to keep people on their toes. Some days quiet, some days loud. Some days in off road + making the exhaust pop and crackle in the line and then yell out the car while she is getting out "Hey everybody, Jordan is here!" "That's her, right there" and point at her.

I've only done that a couple times ;).

Some joints are tigā€™d, some are mig. Where he had to fill or weld while it was on the vehicle was mig. Heā€™s a true craftsman šŸ˜Ž

Thatā€™s hilarious! My 8 year old daughter loves the Jeep and wants me to drop her off at school, take her to practice, etc. She hangs out the window and sits on the rollbar (mostly when parkedā€¦). My 12 year old daughter hates the Jeep and says itā€™s loud and embarrassingā€¦never wants me to drive it to pick her up and drop her off. Asks me to ā€œmake it quietā€ when Iā€™m near her friends.

Looks good.

The ECU was programmed for the switchable factory exhaust system. Was anything reprogrammed, or is there a need for this? Has the vehicle thrown any error codes or had any other issues since the change? Thanks.

No need to reprogram anything. No error codes. The system is vacuum operated, so thereā€™s really no way for the ECU to know if itā€™s open or closed. I just plugged the vacuum lines. And the switch on the dash doesnā€™t do anything, but pushing it makes it act just like factory as far as the dash messages and indicator lights are concerned.
