YouTube gang wars, apparently some guys from w a y o l i f e were making some comments about how trashy it is to pimp out your wife for products on their site and the litebrite nation folks here flipped out. So now it's a gang war, on the internet, lmao, at least until one of the litebrite nation fanatics who worships Brittany (creeper) started threatening to kill some w a y o l i f e members at EJS. Yes, it really is that dramatic and childish. I have no dog in the hunt at all, but I will say that Eddie knows Jeeps, probably better than most people on any forum. And my speculation is that the mentally unstable person who actually started threatening lives over this drama resides on this forum, but that's just my opinion. It's pretty funny actually, some people just need mental help. I read both forums for both info and entertainment. And i'm willing to bet that this post will be "moderated" before tomorrow.

Eddie seems like a nice enough guy but I personally don’t see anything gained from talking negatively about someone else especially their spouse. True, I don't know if Eddie was personally involved or it was just people on his site. I'm also not sure what Kevin or Brittany's involvement level is. Honestly I don't care, I don't get emotionally attached to people I don't know. I believe these are symptoms of a widespread celebrity worship mental health issue that has been created worldwide by social media. I just like having multiple locations for info and sometimes the drama can be entertaining.

Every person, every tech that has ridden in my vehicle has acknowledged a problem; and yet, when I get my repair report, it says, "Vehicle operating as designed." When FCA employees go to school, they must take Issue Evasion, 201. I asked my service advisor to put in writing what the regional tech told him and he refused to do it, for fear of repercussions from the rep and/or FCA. This means the problem is being squashed higher up.Today, Jeep Cares offered me a free, extended warranty. I asked her why I would want such a thing, when they can't even warranty my car, NOW, when it is a month old with 570 miles on it!! I probably will start down the Lemon Law path, which will not be easy. It is pathetic: The absolute worst running car I have ever owned, by a MILE, and they don't even care to open a Star case to TRY and find a cure. I am also going to write to the Massachusetts Attorney General, too. It is obviously a cover-up, almost sinister in nature. They built them, sold them and KNEW of the problem, the whole time.

Well said, you nailed it all. Bottom line they hope consumers will put up with it and just go away in time. Just unbelievable to me that a major corporation can get away with such lack of caring about their product. In addition to the surging issue described above my new $50M Sahara also has the wandering steering issue. When I left it with the dealer on Wednesday I told the service manager to keep it until it was completely fixed. I also asked him to drive it home overnight and see for himself what it drove like. Told him to go ahead let his wife drive it if he wished.

This happens almost every time I pull into my driveway, open the garage, and then go from the slow coasting/roll back into a light acceleration to get the Jeep in the garage. Seems the slow roll, then to a very light press on the acceleration causes a slight jerk, knocking noise, then it tends to smooth itself out once it eases into back up to a steady 3-5 mph to pull in the garage.
I sometimes get this knock/jerk from the transmission or drive train when in similar driving situations.

Just before I stopped and the ESS kicked in, I'd feel the surging idle and I'd feel it push forward with each surge. The worst was when I got home. I park close to my garage door. I creep up to the door with my foot off the gas expecting a normal crawl forward, but it lunges forward with each surge. If I wasn’t mashing the brakes it would have surged forward and pushed in the door.

I can only reproduce it after I've been driving for a while - 2/3 in to my commute, maybe 7 or 8 miles, with air or heat on.

Conditions to reproduce:
Car running more than 20 min
A/c or heat on
Come to a stop - if ESS engages take your foot off the gas or do something else to get the engine started again.
You’ll hear the groan
Take your foot off the gas slightly and you’ll get the surges and groans... it will pull you forward with each groan.

Follow-up:

I took my '18 JLUR in today for the TSB noted in this thread. Loud fan. Surging idle. I literally saved the image on my phone and showed the TSB number to the dealer. See below.

They were great about it. They took the car, gave me a loaner (i did have to request it when i made the appt) and they called me a couple hours later to tell me that I was right - it needed the update and they completed it. I can't tell if it made a difference yet, but it's done and it was easy.

My only questions with this whole thing are (1) why I didn't receive notification of this TSB, and (2) why they didn't know to do it a couple of months ago when I brought it in for the ESS/Bad secondary battery/AppleCarplay Bad GPS issues. All have since been fixed, but i had to do the research to direct them more specifically myself. All thanks to this website.

Also, I have to say hats off to Lithia Jeep here in Portland. Customer service was outstanding. In and out super fast even though there was a line when I got there.

Have a look in the problem forum. It’s a known problem with the rear ends!!!
Make sure to get this fixed because they are not admitting a known problem.
Make them replace a full reared, gear set, bearings ALL OF IT. It’s faulty from the factory.’

Document this and get a replacement ALTHOUGH THEY MOST LIKELY ARE REPLACING WITH THE SAME FAULTY PARTS.

TIME TO SCREAM PEOPLE!!!
It will be your problem and a very costly one once Warranty is up.
They’ve admitted there is a problem but offer no new correction!!!

Add me to the list as well, just had my first experience of this at about 7000 miles yesterday, I find it that there is a higher chance of reproducing it when on a slight incline and when engine is cold:

-Accelerate your vehicle to around 25 mph, you should be in 4th gear at his point, let off the gas pedal and have it coast or brake to slow down to about 5~10mph, sometimes the transmission will still stick in 4th gear, and if you press the gas pedal at this point, (especially on a slight incline), two things might happen, the transmission might suddenly downshift to 1st/2nd gear from 4th real quick and your RPM might shoot up or it will jump between 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear and back again for a second and that's when you get the jerk/shudder.

-ESS turned on on a slight incline, just as you were about to stop momentarily to activate the ESS, you see your RPM needle swinging to 0, hit on the gas pedal, the vehicle will lurch forward suddenly and halt momentarily, and then accelerate. This actually never happened before for me until yesterday, previously I would get a gentle shudder as ESS activates/deactivate and accelerate off as normal. (Note that I have the 2.0 Turbo with BSG so my ESS is usually pretty smooth).

Took it to the dealer today and they found nothing, saying it's operating as designed, he did however, found a newer firmware update for my transmission and said will flash to see if it fixes anything.

I get an odd engine stutter when in low RPM (±1300 rpm) in 3rd gear (6 spd manual) going around 23-25mph. I would chalk it up to a mapping issue. There is a thread about it somewhere.

This is happening to me as well. Manual trans. Trying to figure out cause. Feels really weird when it happens. Brief lack of power, then it catches and you’re fine again.

OP checking in. I recently had a reflash completed by my dealer and have not had the sudden jerk/shudder since.

The following by posted by Arterius2 describes the issue perfectly.

I can't get my dealer to do anything for this problem. They tell me it is a software issue that they cannot do anything about and thus refuse to provide any advocacy or intercession whatsoever.

Curious - Anybody tried emailing a Jeep and/or FCA exec about this issue and the complete lack of ownership much less resolution from their dealer network?

Can you elaborate what the fix was? I believe I have this issue as well. Felt it for the first time today, around 15k miles. I could reproduce it almost every time on my 20 mile trip home. Almost feels like the transmission is confused about what gear to be in and the car starts stuttering. Happens if I try to accelerate faster than normal.
