Took mine in for this issue. Dealer had for 5 days and gave it back with “lubed hinges”. It did absolutely nothing to fix the issue.
Both batteries also managed to fail at the same exact time. No cause given.
Pretty crappy.
OP checking in. I recently had a reflash completed by my dealer and have not had the sudden jerk/shudder since.

I didn't care for the sliver either. I scuffed the rings, sprayed with Dupli-Color (Graphite), light wet sand, and finished with Dupli-Color matte clear coat.
