My JLUR had a wiring harness from the factory. Look under dash, far left side of driver side footwell. Should be an available harness ziptied there.

Took mine in for this issue. Dealer had for 5 days and gave it back with “lubed hinges”. It did absolutely nothing to fix the issue. Both batteries also managed to fail at the same exact time. No cause given. Pretty crappy.

I didn't care for the sliver either. I scuffed the rings, sprayed with Dupli-Color (Graphite), light wet sand, and finished with Dupli-Color matte clear coat.
