I have a 2020 JLU Willys 2.0T with about 19k miles on it. I took it in this morning to have the steering stabilizer replaced (don't think it is related to my issue, but for context). When I left and got the Jeep up to cruising speed, I felt it shudder (the best way I can explain it) in 7th and 8 gear. It feels like its trying to down shift then upshift causing my Jeep to kind of pulsate but only when cruising at speed, not when accelerating. Anyone else experience this before? I tried searching before posting and couldn't find anything, also it's not throwing any codes.

Try manual shift mode, see if it is reproduceable or if it is actually shifting back and forth. Torque converter clutch shudder is not common with this transmission.

Thanks! I did end up trying that as well and it will still do it even if it holds the gear. I should have mentioned that in my initial post.

Well, that’s unfortunate. Only way to verify it 100% is with a good scan tool that can watchtorque converter lockup request and slip speeds, but it certainly sounds like that is what you are describing. Whether a mechanical or electronic problem, that takes more work to figure out.

Whatever became of this? Any update? I experienced this today, between 40-50 mph and also at highway speeds. It does not seem to happen while under acceleration. It does happen with cruise control.

I should add I have a 2020 JLU Sport S with the 2.0T. Just turned 20k miles.

I didn't end up taking it in. After I let the Jeep sit for a couple of hours, it didn't do it again and hasn't since thankfully. I figured it would have been a waste of time bringing it in because I would get the "can't replicate" line from the dealer. Yours sounds very similar to what I experienced, definitely take it in if it continues.

@Impy5 Thank you for the response. I completely understand by what you mean, until the issue is consistent the dealer will be a waste of time… they won’t replicate it.
I’ll keep an eye on it. If it continues I’ll update this thread.

There is a reflash bulletin for a shifting problem, mine happened shifting from 7-8 gear , sort of a shudder, like it wanted to shift into 8th gear but wouldn’t quite go , dealer reflashed as per bulletin, took care of the problem

I’m having same issue…do you have details of the reflash bulletin so I can ask dealer to do it?

I don’t know the bulletin number, they must have been very familiar with the problem because all I did was mention it and it was taken care of
