Let's Talk Two Door Amp Mounts - Solution Found

None of the products I've found indicate that they're compatible with two door JLs. This includes the flat, side-specific mounts and the angled mounts that fit either side.

However, I found this video (go to about 12:20) where a flat mount was used on the driver's side.



Looking at my JLR, it appears the only thing stopping the mount from fitting is the carpet pin that holds the rear floor mat in place, which would be a simple fix.

We also know that the Alpine PSS-23WRA2 works just fine in two door JLs, which leads me to believe that one of the angled amp mounts would also fit without issue.

Thoughts? Has anyone tried to use one of these mounts in a two door and been successful? Or unsuccessful?

Found a solution

The angled amp brackets work just fine in the two doors.

If you have the factory liner-style floormats they'd need to be trimmed to fit, but others might fit as-is.

Just my thoughts friend. I believe it can be done but you'll have to get creative and use some ingenuity to make it happen. If you need a mounting point, make one, even if it means drilling a hole, modify the brackets, or make a new one.

I haven't done it but I certainly wouldn't let a carpet pin and floor mat stop me.

I used 2 of the metro angled amp racks in my 2 door. Now I did have them facing toward the rear since I was still messing with my amp settings at the time but don’t see why they wouldn’t have fitted facing forward just fine also.

Should say I had one rack under each seat. But I didn’t have a back seat in and the rear was enclosed with a diabolical slipstream.

Yeah, the Alpine system I linked has a note about not working with early two door JLs that had the scissor-style seat brackets, but them specifically calling that out leads me to believe the clearance under the seats of the two doors made after that change is close enough to that of the four doors to no longer matter.

I was looking around on Crutchfield and noticed that they list the T-Spec JP-18AMP-1 as specifically fitting the two door.

Of course it's hella overpriced as a kit with all the wiring, but I was able to find just the under seat bracket on eBay for $30

Just because an amp rack says it dosent fit the actual amp dosent mean that it won’t look at the dimensions on the amp and the bracket may just need to drill a few new holes to mount the amp. That’s what I did for both mine. I have a Polk audio d1000.1 and a d4000.4 mounted on my metra. When I get home I get pics of the amps mounted on each rack and also I’ll throw them back in the jeep so you can get an idea how they fit. Won’t be bolted down just sitting in there.

Yeah, I orginally looked at doing all Jl audio for my speaker swap and when I added everything up it was a lot going with the pol audio setup was about 1/3 of the price

Seems the best location with after market parts to do it, but during cold months with heater on floor you are blowing hot air on already hot amp? I guess that isn't an issue?
