And I probably wouldn't have any complaints if I had the 8sp auto, but the gear spread with the 6sp combined with the 3.45 final is lacking in the pep department for sure. I've learned to live with it, just keep the tach above 2k and all is well. And you're right, the fastest car I've ever personally driven was a 1999 C5, or C6, with all of 350 HP and the 6sp at the time, and that scared me plenty! I'd love a 392 but not for 90k, 100 other better uses for my money...Only people who've never driven anything with horsepower and torque think gearing accomplishes the same thing. If that worked you could just slap it in 4Lo and run 0-60 in 4seconds. Go try it (no it won't hurt the jeep to drive on dry pavement in a straight line), it doesn't work that way. Gearing helps to keep the vehicle in the power band, but with the 8spd that's never a problem. The problem is the v6s power comes on high in the rpms and is barely adequate for a 5klb built rig on large tires.
