Haha, that's some carried-over nonsense from almost 20 years ago now. Yes, the 4.0L had torque crawling, but not as much as the 3.6L. You just made my day, LOL ! ! ! !
I know that the torque charts say differently but I came directly from the 4.0 to the 3.6 and I can feel the difference. Some of the difference is probably the ultra-light flywheel in my JL, versus the automatic I had with the 4.0, but it's a night and day difference to me.

It could also be that the Wrangler picked up over 900 lbs of weight between the TJ and the JL. It's one of the reasons I don't like the 3.6...In that heavy of a vehicle, it feels a bit inadequate without a 4:1 transfer case.

I had a WJ that weighed about what my 2 door JL weighs (maybe even slightly heavier actually).

That’s a nice combo with some additional MPG`s
It’s an amazing combo. I’m so glad I didn’t waste my $$$ on a 392… literally took that 3.6->392 cash and used it to buy most of the new M2, that drives like a dream. I really feel like the big motor is wasted in a Jeep. I’d rather have it in a rock bouncer from Buster Knuckle if I was going to do any high-HP off-roading. 5.13 got me all the power my Jeep deserves.

Drove the wife’s X3 M yesterday and if the Hurricane is anywhere close to being that smooth I will be in a world of hurt! Hell the SO Hurricane would be fine with me.

I have no issues with the current V6 automatic I have now, but a silky smooth powerful inline 6 would be very tempting!

As far as Jeep values go I thought the held better than most but they all have a downward curve. It would be interesting to see if your 392 is holding value better or worse than other Jeeps. May be interesting to see how it looks a couple years after the 392 is out of production. I keep sinking more mods into my jeep as it is just my stress reliever to go wheeling. I am sure my mods decline faster that then value of my jeep and it would be worse to start a build like this all over so I keep going. I expect to have mine for long enough to get every dime of fun out and then some. :)
Most of the 60s and 70s muscle car's values tanked when the emissions were implemented along with unleaded, low octane fuel. But once the panic subsided, and car enthusiasts realized that many of these were gone for good classics, the values began to climb. Look at the prices now for a HEMI RoadRunner or a Six Pac 440. Not to mention the older 50s cars with HEMI engines.

I suspect that the 392's residual value will enjoy a better-than-average retention over time. The allure of bragging rights doesn't have to make sense.

The objective value of "mods", on the other hand, tend to drop off of a cliff the moment they're installed. One man's choices are another's waste of money. Absolutely, the best way to extract maximum benefit from them is to keep and enjoy the vehicle on which they're installed for as long as possible. ?

If the I6 makes it into the wrangler or the gladiator…it will be similar to the 392, all top shelf options and a banger of a sticker price. Maybe even $100k!
Totally agree!!!! Stick with the 2.0

What everyone is missing about the old muscle cars BBM & Boss 429 is these engines were wider. It took re working the fender wells, rearranging the engine compartment but it fit within the track of the vehicle.
The hurricane is longer, a lot longer. It either has to move the firewall and drive train back and into the passenger compartment or extend the front of the jeep.
Can it be done, sure but its going to take some major mods to do it.

Hmmmm, nope, you can get a 22 392 for about $65,000-70,000 with under 20,000 miles

Any of you 392ers who got out of a 392, why? I'm trying to get on the final edition list at two dealers, but lb for lb, my 4,000lb 2 door with 260 tq at 15 lb load per ft/lb is pretty peppy and close to a 6,500lb 392 with 470ft/lbs at 13.8 lb, call it 14lb per ft/lb.
Depending on how it’s configured a 392 weighs between 5,150 lbs and 5,450 lbs.

Yep- and the numbers matching unmolested top tier classics have the highest value. Old guy had a couple top tiers and a few now “collectible”….. my pre XR got gears and tires, wheels ordered but the originals will be kept, nothing not reversible will be done. I learned the hard way.

Rumored to be just 4" longer at the crank vs the 5.7L. Bet it would probably fit myself.
