And all too often used to support arguments. Example— “a V8 costs $20/30/40 K more”. Before purchase I compared it to a diesel. My build with all the same options as “standard” — $77.6 K vs just under $68K. Add the lift and beadlock capable the difference was ~ $5K. Granted the diesel wasn’t cheap either, but it wasn’t $15K extra or more. I wasn’t interested in the other options…..
You're paying $5k for fake beadlocks and a 1.5" lift? And another $5k for cai and shocks? Not arguing the 392s performance, but your fuzzy math to close the gap is as big a stretch as the JL guys comparing power to weight. Personally I prefer the black top and fenders vs painted so the difference ends up quite a bit larger as the 392 has me buying options I don't want. I'm only about $10k into the build of the wife's JLUR with the xr package and its got full belly skids, metalcloak 3.5" lift, flipped drag link, actual fox 2.0s with 12" of travel(50% more than the 392 version),and 39s. Only paid $58k and it's loaded with just about every other option aside from painted parts I didn't want. It doesn't have anywhere near the power of the 392, but it's got better steering, suspension, protection, a winch, and massively better approach/departure/breakover angle and was still $10k cheaper all in. For that remaining $10k it could easily get a supercharger and cai(you know they aren't actually $5k) on the v6 and be comparable in power.

No argument- if not “standard equipment” I wouldn’t have gotten painted top and fenders, nannies, factory beadlock capable, stereo I don’t listen too, others. But I was comparing similarly equipped , actual diesel comparison numbers reported. You want a V8, you get the whole schbang, it was the same with my 05 4R V8. …. New wheels ordered, so yes, a waste…… V6 SC under $5K ? 392 Whipple almost $10K.
I bet the scooped hood and water diverting system wouldn’t be a cheap option if offered.

My point was more comparing the 2nd most expensive engine option (which isn't even available anymore) to argue the difference isn't $20 or 30 or 40k is cherry picking at best. VS a standard v6 with almost all the options it is in fact $20k. Go for a base Rubicon and it is in fact pushing close to $40k. If the included "standard options" aren't something you want, you are in fact paying $30k+ extra for the v8 as that is the only way to get it.

Correct- my first priority option was a V8 or diesel, heck, I would have gotten a 2dr if either was offered. No base V8 offered so I compared as similarly equipped as possible and leaning V8 my choice was justified….. My wife bought it, geeeez.
Plus I did get all the bells and whistles paid for.

I wanted mine loaded so it’s 20k difference but the same way with a different engine. The 392 is worth it

I saw Jeep stuff a V10 Viper engine into a 2Dr Wrangler, back in 1998. So, I don't see why this I6 wouldn't fit. They need to do it in the 2Dr though.

The Viper V10 is probably the same length as the 4.0 I6 available at the time, might even be shorter.

Personal experience here... In my near 50years of driving I've driven plenty of high horsepower vehicles. I will say that re-gearing my 3.6/auto Willys from 3.45 to 4.56 (running 34" tires), immensely improved it's drivability. In fact, I think, for that torque lacking (at low rpms) engine, it's rather in the sweet spot for all around use. I've also had several Jeeps in my time...
But I digress, this is off topic ?
I’ll have to add, my factory 4.88 stock ko2 and 3.6, that’s one explosive combo if I floor it off the line. And it’s all over at about 30 mph.

Mm. Unless I missed it, there's not a single photo of the vaunted TT I6 in the photo gallery for the linked vehicle. Are consumers who shop in that particular price tier, and/or for large SUVs like the Wagoneer, presumed to have no interest whatsoever in what's under the hood? ?
Must not, no pic of the Escalade V engine in B&P (build and buy), highly touted, even a sound clip, but I had to go elsewhere for a pic ??‍♂
