What sucks some of you have 2019's. Kinda of shuts up the whole don't buy first year jeep argument. Bottom line is these things happen no matter what model year.

On a separate note. I wonder if some of you are noticing this after an oil change. Did you all confirm that the dealer didn't overfill as what seems to be happening with a lot of people here? Some dealers are putting in the JK amount of oil and the JL takes 1qt less.
Mine had the oil changed this past Saturday; Monday night, the leak started. The dealer confirmed it's the rear main seal but the part is on back order till May. That is a uge problem for me; vehicles I've owned in the past 10 years are 2008 Chrysler 300, 2017 Ram 1500, and the 2018 Jeep Wrangler. Kind of funny having the worst issues with the newer one.

Do not get me wrong, I completely agree that your new vehicle should not leak and would be very frustrated by the service you received. That said a rear main seal leaking is not a huge deal. Sucks you have to wait until May, however I would have no concerns driving the Jeep daily until then. Just check the oil level once a week or more depending on the size of the puddle you leave. Ask anyone who has ever driven the 4.0 straight 6, you can drive with a leaky rear main for 100,000 miles without causes any extra damage, just check the oil level and top it off when needed.

Good luck with the service department, that part really sucks.

I can't wrap my brain around that, how can overfill engine oil blow the rear main seal?

I didn't say specifically the main seal . If the dealer says its the main seal so be it, I'm talking about some of the others that are seeing leaks. Google "can overfilling engine oil cause leaks" you will find its pretty common actually. Too much oil will create bubbles by the crank slashing it around too much causing poor lubrciation which in turn can cause seals to not be properly lubricated and fail. Again I'm not saying this is the actual issue here, just weird as I've noticed post like these usually occur after the person got an oil change.

Mine just got picked up by the Roadside; was about to crank it when I saw the puddle on the driveway. Got underneath and noticed the leak from between engine and transmission. Engine oil was just changed this weekend (all work at the dealer). Real bummer; I'd wish you and I were arguing over who has the best jeep but I guess, right now, it sucks. Mine only has about 9,500 miles.

I have a 2018 jlu turbo and having an oil leak near the engine/oil pan. I have cleaned the area several time just to see if I can find out where the oil is coming from, but it appears it only start leaking after I am done driving it and splatter all over the under carriage. I have no clue where its coming from and have only 4k on it. Taking to the dealer on Wednesday to see what it is and how long I will be car less.

Well, here goes an update. The Jeep is still sitting at the Dealership; the rear main seal will not make it in till probably May 17th which is exactly one month from today (and it's already been there about 2 weeks). That's when the seal should make it in to the dealer then the install process will take easily another day or two if not more. JeepCares did set up a rental for 10 days; obviously this will be an issue since the Jeep is going to sit for more than 10 days over there. Not blaming JeepCares but how is the dealer and JeepCares going to make anything better when the manufacturer cannot even deliver a simple rear main seal. So go figure, 2018 JL body Jeep with a little over 9,500 sitting and will continue to sit at the dealer due to a blown rear main seal. Very low quality at this point and unacceptable for a 50,000 dollar vehicle. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me. :(

Again not wrong to be upset about the 50k Jeep leaking on you. I would be to. How much is it leaking? A cup per week or less? What is your concern with driving it until the seal comes in? Just top it off once a week and you shouldn't cause any damage. Have the dealership buy you a quart of oil or something and but some cardboard down in your garage.

Thanks for the reply; it was a pretty big leak; the Jeep has been at the dealer so wouldn't be able to tell you the quantity but it was significant. Once the engine fired up, it would start dripping. I've owned many vehicles throughout my life and have never had any transmission or engine replaced; I always maintain them (mostly myself unless they are under warranty then only the dealer touches them) so this caught me off guard. At 9,500, one would hardly figure that such a leak would be present; the dealer gave me a rental so I'll be using that for now. I do not blame the dealer; I blame FCA. How can the dealer and even JeepCares do anything when FCA doesn't even have its own parts in stock? My Harley has proven more reliable at this point.

I am surprised that there are so many posts of leaking fluids on these Jeeps; from oil to coolant. The reality is that, this should not be happening;

That sucks, I was thinking about leaks I have experienced. If you turn it on and can count drips consistently coming I don't blame you for not driving it. Best of luck to you.

Thanks; for what it's worth, the dealer received the part Friday. I dropped by Saturday and the Jeep was somewhat assembled. I'm keeping my hopes up for tomorrow. Hopefully, it'll be ready.

FWIW, I received my Jeep today. I hope this is the last time it happens but time will tell. It has been a while since I've overhauled a transmission but one of the things I came to learn is that the new seals no longer have the inner spring (circular one). I'm sure things have changed quite a bit since the last 10 years but I was surprised. Anyway, I can say that Jeep came in about 2.5 weeks early.

Thanks for all the responses.

Having similar leak, only dealer is refusing warranty since they see mud under the car and claims that is causing the seal to leak.
After two trips to the dealer (first time they resealed the oil pan instead of actually looking for the leak) they now say you can't drive a rubicon through mud.
to be continued
