I planned on replacing the diff fluid in my JL so I went under to get an idea of what needs to be done. I noticed there were some sludge/oil around and above the oil pan. I'm guessing oil is leaking out somewhere? I haven't seen any oil spots on my garage floor nor driveway so it's not leaking out that much, just enough to ooze out and cover the pan as seen in the photos below. I'm already past the 3 year warranty so I would like to try to fix this on my own. What should I look for as far as locating the source and fixing it (unless this would be covered under the powertrain warranty)?

Looks like a pan gasket to me. Suggest you use a degreaser and clean the area thoroughly. Then drive it a few miles and take a look again. That “should” identify the location of the leak. Changing a pan gasket is no biggie IF you can just drop the pan-dunno if that’s possible on a JL. It’ll depend on what’s beneath it. Good luck
