Rebooted...as in rebooted because of an update to the system or rebooted due to the earlier issues where head units were continually rebooting randomly and unexpectedly which was due to a bad OTA update?

It rebooted while I was out running errands. This was the second time the system rebooted. Both reboots were random.

Look on the bright side, at least they are not trying to fix it by sending out a bigger FOB! :)

@se7en , yep did a quick check on the thread when I got back to see the latest. Kinda happy to see the guess of firmware seemed to be on-track because as discussed, might be a good quick fix... as long as they don’t go a ‘fix it further FIAT (ie WRECK-it Ralph)’ later, when updating something else. ;)

So after reading the info and the change in status for many (with one apparent reversion/exception), I thought, yeah, it still might be worth adding info about one of the Saharas on the lot and/or a Rubi should I find one this warmer week, especially seeing as it would be a Canadian config (they aren’t majorly different but there are slight differences with DRL, etc), so thinking if succesful or failure, having another software version to report back might help people who experience this.

What I don’t see in the thread is people reporting their software version, even with Fib3r’s post that his is “up to date”. I think it would be a good idea if you and mergedown and others post your Uconnect version info to see if that offers insight into why some work and others don’t. Also gives us a stable build to reference/revert to should this happen again.

Good idea. I'll check mine later this morning and report back.

Remote start maybe...?
Ok @se7en, I think your theory might be accurate. I stopped using my remote start and the last few unlocks have been instant. I mostly use the Uconnect start, so it may be worth testing the key fob remote start to see if it has the same impact.

I’m going to avoid remote start for the rest of the day to continue to prove it out, but so far so good.

I have been following this thread... I have a question..

When you have the issue with door handles not reacting instantly, has this only been after you have remote started your JLU with the key fob?

Not entirely sure, yet. That's what we are testing, now.

When mine stopped working properly, it lasted for a couple-three weeks, then miraculously started working one weekend. In fact, all of ours on this thread did. Thought maybe there was a secret update or something. But then, @mergedown stopped working again, while mine did not. After brainstorming, we are thinking maybe the Uconnect remote start may be the culprit because merge uses it and I don't. Merge has now stopped using the Uconnect remote start and his is seemingly working properly again. Next experiment is to try the FOB remote start to see if that affects it, too. Trial and error, here.

BTW, mine in still working perfectly...even with an 1/8" of frost on the handle! Tried just 5 minutes ago.

To be clear, if the car has been remotely started, the doors unlock instantly. Doesn’t matter if it’s key fob or UConnect. The issue happens when I don’t use the remote start, there is a good 6 second delay to unlock.

I stopped using the remote start yesterday after @se7en suggested it might be the cause. After a couple hours, it started unlocking instantly and it’s been working great ever since.

So, all we know so far is that if you use remote start regularly, your doors will be slow to unlock when you choose not to remote start, but only temporarily.

Another way to simplify the explanation is to either use remote start all the time, or never use it, and you won’t experience the delay in unlock. If, like me, you do a mix of both, you will experience a delay in unlock when the car is not already running.

Didn't order this option. Still want to be in control of when the door locks are opened. Concerns me that the car will be opened when I walk by and then just stay opened. Besides....Locking the doors right before my girls try to open the doors is half the fun! :)

The only hiccup on the above theory is that I only used Uconnect once and it messed mine up for weeks, not hours. Then, one weekend, all was well again...and has been ever since. But, again, I haven't used either remote start option.

The doors don't unlock when you walk by, only when you grab the driver or passenger door handle.

Maybe an update shortened the length of time for it to start again. Seems as if once you use Uconnect to start the car, maybe it goes into a listening mode for a certain amount of time which interferes with it "listening" for a grab of the door handle. After a certain amount of time, the vehicle stops listening and all starts working normally again.

I was in and out of it multiple times today, and it has worked perfectly. I'll try remote start from the key fob later and see if that impacts the unlock, or if it is only via Uconnect.
