It doesn't quite work that way, if I understand you correctly. You are always in control of the locks. It doesn't just unlock when you walk close to it. You HAVE to touch the handle with the FOB very close by. If you're on one side of the vehicle and your wife is on the other, it will not unlock if they grab the handle first. In fact, on our Lexus version, the back doors on the same side as the FOB won't open...it has to that close, like 2-3 feet.Still want to be in control of when the door locks are opened. Concerns me that the car will be opened when I walk by and then just stay opened.
