Still want to be in control of when the door locks are opened. Concerns me that the car will be opened when I walk by and then just stay opened.
It doesn't quite work that way, if I understand you correctly. You are always in control of the locks. It doesn't just unlock when you walk close to it. You HAVE to touch the handle with the FOB very close by. If you're on one side of the vehicle and your wife is on the other, it will not unlock if they grab the handle first. In fact, on our Lexus version, the back doors on the same side as the FOB won't open...it has to that close, like 2-3 feet.

Ok, so to try and narrow it down to the software, was looking to get the software version. Where is that at in the Uconnect? Just tried to find it and may have looked over it, but sure couldn't find one.

I looked for a software version last night as well and couldn't find it.

I can confirm that if you do use remote start it will lag after you try to unlock it without remote starting it again. I have been unlocking it just by touching the handle and it was instant. I tried remote start, did my driving and turned it off, came back and tried to touch the handle and the lag was there. I never used the remote start before until today. Hope this helps you guys

Thanks, sounds exactly like what I've been experiencing.

The remote start you trigger with fob button push or the remote start using Uconnect? I'm gathering it is the fob one.

Yeah...I was just about to ask the same. @Man-of-methods - were you using the FOB or Uconnect to remote start?

I used the fob. I signed up for Uconnect and I instantly noticed that the screen would not turn off once they signed me up. It took about 10 minutes for the screen to turn off (yes the Jeep was off and locked). It was weird. It seems normal now but I don't think I'm going to download the app. It seems redundant to have remote start on the app since I have it on the fob. However, can someone that has it confirm that if they use the app it will lag? I know for fact that the remote on the fob will lag if you continue to use the handle afterwards.

Yes. Using the Uconnect app for remote start does cause a delay as well. @mergedown has already tested it. And now, you have tested the FOB option, so that means...don't use either if you want instant unlock, it seems.

Confirmed. I switched to key fob start ONE time and it created a delay in unlock after that. So now we know that both the key fob and UConnect remote starts will cause a delay in the unlock. Not sure what the window of time is, but I’m guessing it’s 6-8 hours before it stops “listening” for a remote start.

I for one can live with the lag, especially knowing how it starts. I probably won't ever use the remote start, except when it's really cold. My Jeep is garage kept most of the time anyway.

If you’ll never use remote start, then you won’t have to deal with the lag. When you do use it, you’ll at least know why the lag exists and that it will eventually go away until you remote start again.
