head gasket swap after P0301 code

No i think you were right the first time as the nubs on it make me think it sits inside a groove on a piece. Like the other gaskets that came in that bag.
I seem to remember the intake manifold gaskets having those nubs no?

Right. I'm not saying my pics shows it installed correctly, I was just checking diameter. If I unbolted.the TB from the intake, I think I'd find that seal there, and a correspnding groove in the intake.

Getting closer to finishing.
I have 5 connectors that got damaged during disassembly or just arent cooperating.
2 coil packs on the pass. side, the alternator signal wires, and the TB all got the little ramp wiped off. Guess I'll fashion some zip tie retention system.
The small connector on back of the AC comp looks ok, but just won't click. Thinking hinking more zip ties here.

To do;
a bunch of coolant lines and reservoir.
Clean mud from the backside of radiator, install fan.
Battery tray. I already had the aux battery bypassed. I may read up on how to remove.the cables since its all apart.
Air tube and box
Oil change and add coolant

Can anyone snap a pic of where this ground line goes? Left front corner, I put it under the front bolt for the ABS?computer. Watching Nix Fix, I don't think he touched this module, and I don't see the ground line anywhere. Of course I cant find it in any of my pre-tear down pics either.

You can see the ground ring terminal in this old pic' after I removed the computer.

The Mopar breakdown is confusing with a lot of overlap between different kit p/n's, so Benny set me straight. Here is what I went with...

Getting there. Nice weather yesterday, so I took a sick of work day and got a lot done.
I think all that's left is battery and its connections, oil change, coolant fill.

I misplaced 2 bolts for the air intake tube to radiator. Surprisingly I think thats all I lost.

I did not put the aux battery back in, so I will have do something with the cables. I have the ESS turned off via a Tazer, and have the fuse pulled. Negative cable between aux batt and main battery is removed and taped off. Will the positive cable at aux battery end ever get hot? Thinking I'll wrap it in electrical tape and maybe on old sock with another layer of electrical tape, then stuffing it back into the aux battery cavity.

Both cables can be removed completely with some tape cutting but would have been much easier before it was all back together. Even at that, doesn't take much to get them out. I know a lot of people just tape them off but I am not a fan of leaving unattached wires hanging around.

I really don't like taped off wires bouncing around either, so I cut some tape and traced the cables. Removing the aux ground was no problem; that is now gone.

The positive is a different story. The aux battery terminal has 2 cables. One goes up to the fusebox (#1positon), but the second cable seemed to go into the bellhousing area in a big fat taped bundle. So it seemed like if I removed the easy cable, I would need a jumper from the #1 terminal to the cable running into the bellhousing abyss.

Not being comfortable removing partial harnesses and possibly making a jumper, I opted to tape of the positive terminal to aux batt.

Am I done? Hope so...it fired right up!

Changed the oil, filtered out the red coolant I saved, installed battery cables and alternator cables etc.
The 2 screws "missing" for air intake tube were found with the airibox. Yay, no missing parts and nothing leftover.

Now I need to get more coolant for top off. This red/pink/purple compatibility conundrum is frustrating. When the weather warms up, i may flush what i have and add all new.

Final step will be reinstalling the aftermarket hood struts

I still use electrical tape here and there but I came across self sealing silicone tape that I use in some situations. Waterproof and gives some padding too. It’s kind of a handy product to keep in the tool box.

Rolled 60kmiles on the maiden voyage off to work this morning. Officially out of warranty lol. Everything was good.

Not so on the ride home. I was enjoying toasty hot air from the HVAC ducts, then it went cold and i wasnt enjoying anything. As I was processing that, the temp gauge went from halfway to full red. I quickly decided to pull off into the grocery store 1/4 mile ahead. The center display said something like HOT plus some more words i forget. As i scrolled the menu to show coolant temp, i passed thru oil and transmission which looked normal. Coolant temp said -- which i took as no coolant, sensor is in air.
So I pull over, pop the hood, notice coolant bottle is empty. There were definitely signs of coolant leaking, but i was surprised there wasn't coolant dripping everywhere all over.
Especially when I found a heater hose disconnected. The hose clamp was still on the hard pipe, presumably where i left it, allowing the hose to blow off.

Pushed the hose back, on added the 1/4 gallon of coolant i had with me, then drove across the street to Advance Auto. Borrowed the worst slip joint pliers ever (I was missing my 3month old chinazon ratchet locking hose clamp pliers) and bought 2 gallons of coolant.
I got one full gallon into the Jeep, the drove it home (5mins). Let it sit during dinner, then got another 1/2 gallon in.

Im so glad I initially reused my old coolant!
