they recalled the HD rams for them though I don’t know what they are doing to fix. Maybe that will happen for us too?
In a fair and just world, Bosch and Ram would just see the obvious answer in front of their faces and demand a return to the CP3. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that injection pump; rock solid reliable and capable of MAJOR horsepower and torque before needing to be modified or doubled up. The Duramax fellas and fellettes have been suffering the pain of CP4 longer than the Cummins crowd has. I think the CP4 can, at this point, be ruled an objective failure. Part of engineering is admitting when your design wasn't an improvement over a legacy design and yielding to better minds of the past, but I think they skip that chapter in most engineering schools nowadays.

Just finished the install of this tune. Initial impression is a much crisper throttle. Can't give her the full Welly from a stop unless it's in 4wd. Going to have to figure out how to get the Tazer to allow diff locking in 2wd. Also likes to hold a gear longer and peak boost is now in the low 30's... 0-60 will be posted soon.

Damn. Now I really want a diesel.

We have an EcoDiesel in our Grand Cherokee and we both loved it for the four years before FCA forced a power AND economy robbing reflash. I’d pay a lot to have the joy of our current wrangler with that performance and fuel economy.

GDE will tune your Gen 2 diesel as well. JLDiesel got her GC tuned after he pulled the trigger on his JL.

Voids warranty, right? Intriguing but I'm not doing that given all the issues JEeps have.

I can understand that with your handle stating that you have a Bolt. Everyone has a comfort level with the risk they are willing to take. If the pundits were correct, my 09 JK should have needed three motors to get to 225k but it ran better at 225k then when I got it at 53k. Some are going to be perfect, some are not.

Wife’s bolt has been incredible actually.

Jeeps have terrible reliability. Want that warranty.

That's awesome about the Bolt. You never know about how a vehicle will behave over time. You might get the Mercedes or Honda that ends up a buyback, or you might get a Yugo or a Daewoo that goes 200k.

I have a friend with 150k trouble-free miles on his '20 ED Cherokee, and he's the kind of person who will wait until it won't start to remember to put DEF in it. Jeep reliability varies from vehicle to vehicle just like any other make/model. The main reason that so many people say Jeeps have terrible reliability is because so many people will put a 4" lift and 35s on an otherwise stock sport without re-gearing, and then claim the vehicle is terrible when things that are not made to handle that excess strain break. You can't look at Jeep reliability in the way you can that of a Honda civic for instance. The difference is that there are roughly 18 million civics sold with maybe 400,000 that have been modified, so roughly 98% are exactly as engineered for - while there are about 2.5 million wranglers sold with probably closer to 1.5 million modified, meaning that maybe 40% are as engineered... Note, the only numbers I have substantiation for are the sold numbers, but it gives an idea of why it is not possible to judge the baseline reliability of these vehicles in any way.

Giving this thread a bump. Has anyone else gone with the GDE tune?

I would absolutely love to give it a try. Primarily, because of its ability to reduce the amount of soot being pumped back into the motor. That being said, I have the Mopar 9/125 extended warranty and don’t want to lose my coverage.

If GDE can create a tune that reduces soot and improves performance, then Mopar should be able to create a similar tune. They could sell it for a premium and let us keep our warranties in play. I think Ford already does something like this.

Keep Jeep’n

I went with the GDE tune at 2500 miles. I am at 24000 now with no issues, 24 mpg on 37's and 0-60 in under 6. The only issue that you will run into with Mopar is if they can trace the issue to the flashed PCM. Looks like we are already going to get a free fuel pump when it breaks and that is the only issue that I am concerned with. The factory tune limits torque in the lower gears so you don't smoke the tires off from a stop light. 4hi does the trick and I intend so do a few burnouts when it's time to replace the tires. If your service department plays nice and you have a real issue, they can reflash the PCM before any diagnostics and GDE will flash it back for $50. One thing is that the torque converter locks up much faster than stock and when you lift in lower gears, it feels a little like a clutched manual.

I want to get the GDE tune (had it in my 2016 Ram ED and loved it) but I'm running into an issue. GDE needs the PCM to have the latest updates but when I try to get the emissions recall flash the dealership is telling me that I now have to wait until the fuel pump is replaced because the flash is different.

Find another dealer. The PCM flash isn't dependent on the fuel pump recall.

The pump recall may need it's own flash but since the fix isn't even available, there's no reason they can't do the emissions recall.

I've have a 2023 jlur diesel with the GDE tune. I went ahead and got the 2nd PCM, which is the one they actually tuned. They mirrored my oem unit and sent it back with the new/tuned pcm, along with the hand held tuner for the transmission tune.

I am going to put the original pcm back in and re-flash the stock transmission tune before taking my vehicle to the dealer next week for a lift install. I wonder if they will say anything?
