There are countless threads on this topic.

Long and short of it is GDE has one of the best tunes on the market. They are EPA compliant so they will not sell to a California address.

I'm closely watching the transportation freedom act in the senate. If laws change I'll get GDEs off road tune with a straight pipe from the turbo!

If it weren't for the transpiration freedom act I would get the current tune from GDE. I just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I'm in line with you. I just spent $1700 to replace the DEF tank so I'm also hoping this passes and I can pull out all this high failure rate junk.

I keep reading that they're going to stop smog checks in CA. I have a feeling it's all just clickbait.

Requiring states to not smog check is not likely legal. However, They are attempting to revoke the CARB waiver to set their own standards and not comply with federal standards, granted in the mid 70’s. The last effort was dropped in January of 21. Second class citizen wanting federal compliant performance upgrades is watching. Regrettably, the waiver could possibly be granted again in January of 29 with a pen stroke. However, so far whatever legal when bought/installed has been grandfathered in as legal. IE, with the smog law changing from year of engine to year of vehicle it took a little creative dating on a sales receipt for my friend to get my L-79 he replaced the junk smog motor in his mid 70’s Chevy PU with approved. About 200 more HP, and from ~8 to 12 mpg, premium required, a small price.
If the effort is successful this time I would quickly get the wanted federal compliant performance upgrades.
