Just ask @cosine he knows!
Is there an expiration time on getting this done? TBH I'd rather not get it done unless my steering gets worse down the line. Mine is steering just fine but wouldn't want to have this recall not available if I eventually need it. FWIW I did receive the recall notice in the mail about a month back.

No. I waited years before dealing with the takata airbag recall on an old Honda that I just used for dump runs. Safety recalls donā€™t expire.

Iā€™m in the same boat as you are. It ainā€™t broke, so Iā€™m not fixing it. Hopeful that by the time I get around to it the techs know how to install the damn thing...

I know, wish I could just stop by the dealer and they give it to me to install myself if & when it might be needed.

No, it did not, unfortunately. You're from BG? I lived there for 8 years before moving back to Bardstown. Graduated from WKU.
Yes ,I've lived in BG for 20yrs now and been to Bardstown a few times nice area there . I heard there is a flash for the play in the steering wheel I spoke to my service manager and he can't find anything on it if anyone has any info about the flash I would greatly appreciate their input .

I debated about getting the V41 work done, since I have not had any wobble/wander problem and steering felt fine to me. So, I figured i would have it done just in case the original damper could be a potential problem in the future. Stopped by the dealer last Monday to make an appointment. They told me the dampers are in short supply and there is a 5 week wait. No problem, call me when they come in. 10 minutes later on my drive home, dealership called and said damper is due in tomorrow, so I made an appointment for Saturday morning. Had damper installed, correctly installed the first time. I don't notice much of a difference. Still no wobble and no wondering. Maybe just a bit more responsive.

Update on my update. I apparently didn't let the jeep sit long enough before checking the oil. It's over filled.
I checked it again this morning and it's up to the cable on the dipstick. Do not use Columbia Chrysler Dodge jeep.
I will drain some out today and never use them again.
I don't know why, but my dipstick always looks like it's filled to the divot way above the marks on the stick. I checked my paperwork from service, and it said 5 quarts, but since the dipstick looked so overfilled, I opted to change the oil out just to make sure. When I drained the oil, it was only 5 quarts... for some reason it always just looks really overfilled. It did when I first purchased it too.

I had the steering damper recall done today. Made the appt last week and they had the part in stock. I dropped it off this morning and it was ready by lunch. Installed correctly and overall the smoothest service experience ive had with this dealership so far so im pleasantly surprised. I had no issues with my steering before and really wasnt expecting much difference but it actually is a noticeable difference. Steering seems tighter, more responsive and overall just feels a little "calmer".

Had a damper replaced in June however still got a recall notice. Dealer replaced again today and it still drives poorly and actually slightly worse then with damper #2. They would not address my request to have the steering box replaced and said the damper would correct the issue. Guess what it doesnā€™t. Wandered and had to course correct steering all the way home on the highway.
Service comment on invoice: Test drove and vehicle performs as designed. 3rd damper, track bar updated and PCM flashed the list of things done to date. Why would you design a vehicle that wanders all over the road on highway speeds to the point that itā€™s a safety issue for daily driving. Jeep Cares how about getting some assistance here and getting a AE steering box authorized so I can have my family feel safe driving and being driven in this thing.

As you can see from the attached pic, the bulge in no way interferes with the mounting of the stabilizer. Seems to be plenty of room to me.

You are absolutely correct !, I don't know what they initially were talking about, come to find out "it was done properly the second time ,they turned it 180 at my insistence and it fits ,with no rub or binding,....torque to 51 ft.lbs., and good to go, albeit a non fix, i see no difference, however with a BRAND new jeep,I should not ,unless other suspension parts are bad, or the other item causing wobble or vibration....these dealerships leave a lot to be desired. I can't figure out if lazy, stupid, inept,or just dishonest...we shall see

I also had this done and it made things WORSE! I do have a 2" lift, new suspension, shocks, and stabilizer arm aftermarket. The moment I got this recall done, when I hit a bump at about 35 mph and up my steering wheel shakes like crazy. I am going to have the dealership look at today to make sure it's on right. If not, I may have to spring $400 for an aftermarket damper, which sucks! Anyone else have this issue???

Is this pic the correct or incorrect. Iā€™m waiting at the dealership now and that looks like the way mine is installed currently. Want to bring it to their attention if itā€™s incorrect.

View attachment 227247 View attachment 227240 Thanks for the post on the damper being installed in the wrong direction . . Had the recall taken care of and they installed it incorrectly . Took it back the next morning and it was redone.
They said they had a meeting half the techs knew about the correct installation position the other half admitted they didnā€™t read the diagram / instructions . Very easy for owners to do a visual inspection to verify . Thanks again for all who posted pictures .
First pic (incorrect )
IS that the
Took 3weeks to get in but looks like itā€™s done correctly from other post I looked at!
