Is this pic the correct or incorrect. I’m waiting at the dealership now and that looks like the way mine is installed currently. Want to bring it to their attention if it’s incorrect.

View attachment 227247 View attachment 227240 Thanks for the post on the damper being installed in the wrong direction . . Had the recall taken care of and they installed it incorrectly . Took it back the next morning and it was redone.
They said they had a meeting half the techs knew about the correct installation position the other half admitted they didn’t read the diagram / instructions . Very easy for owners to do a visual inspection to verify . Thanks again for all who posted pictures .
First pic (incorrect )
IS that the
Took 3weeks to get in but looks like it’s done correctly from other post I looked at!

Still waiting for the part to arrive at my dealership. Was told they are only getting 1-2 a week that come in and I'm in line. @JeepCares can you comment on availability of the part in question?

i called a dealership in Las Vegas yesterday and they told me 10 weeks to get in and get it done i will be number 63 on the list and they only get about 7 done a week. today i was in the dealership here in Pahrump and the parts guy was yea i can get you in any day i have 6 steering dampeners in the back. so mine will be done Friday and he told me that you have to watch out some places are putting them upside down. so i figure it will be done right when i go in Friday to get it done.

I'll be dern if i know why the bulge needs to be on the bottom, but I assume this insures oil inside does some miraculous thing in that little bulge

I would imagine it depends on how many the dealer orders and then the number of customers calling. Several places have them online for $28 + shipping. I found this one in the next state at a dealer, ordered Thursday and it arrived Saturday.

Never had any steering issues. But had the V41 recall done and I mentioned there was a TSB to replace the track bar if you had to make small steering corrections to go straight. I have too but didn't feel it was anymore then other vehicles. They said they'd look at the TSB. When I went to pick it up they had replaced the damper correctly and replaced the track bar. Steering feels firmer now and I can let go of the steering wheel on the highway for a ways before it starts to drift out of the lane. I'm very happy with the results.

After opening a case with Jeep Cares and finally getting to speak with the Service Manager (who insisted it wasn’t possible to install the damper incorrectly), I brought it back. The Service Manager called out their “Master Tech” who proceeded to tell me the sticker didn’t matter and it was installed correctly. I asked him about the bulge on the intake cap and got a blank look, so I whipped out a printout of the CV41 pdf and handed it to him.

I’m in the waiting room now while they install it correctly, but unbelievable that I had to go through that.

My wife took this picture with her today to have the dampener changed.
Showed it to the service writer upon arrival.
It was installed correctly....
Seems to have tightened it up a bit on the 50mph twisty state route.
Haven't had it 70mph on the interstate yet.
That picture is wrong though...why take a wrong picture

I had heard enough of the backwards installs and didn't want to make a second trip.
The new stabilizer actually seems to have helped ours. But for how long??
I've heard that it made it worse for a few others?
Hope this change helps you and others.
