I'm not absolutely sure if it's significantly more resistant to the usual types of breakage than traditional glass or not. It's definitely lighter, but weight isn't usually a massive concern in this community. Thanks for sharing that!
I've come to the conclusion that the biggest hazard are the rocks that the KO2s throw in front of you. My biggest crack scares happened when nobody was anywhere near me. I had to have thrown them at myself. It was only $95 additional back when I ordered mine. I just do my best to stay as far back from the vehicle in front of me.
I admit it is far over priced, but I went through 4 windshields within a year. One little rock chip always turned into the Grand Canyon across my window. Since I have the Gorilla glass not even a chip in a year. ... I guess I like it...Just had a chip filled in and overheard the tech on the security cam say Gorilla Glass is a waste of money.![]()
Stellantis told you that and not just a dealer? You should have pushed back since the first replacement is covered for two years.I ordered the gorilla glass when I bought the Rubicon. Windshield was hit by a pebble at 200 miles on the odometer. Stellantis told me to pound sand, but wait, they did give me 2 yrs of free dent removal.
i replaced it on my dime, installed racing optics windshield film. Since then I have had several really good hits, no cracks or chips.
Yes it is a waste. My one tiny chip cracked all the way across the windshield in 24 hours so couldn’t even fix the chip. Thankfully dealer honored the warranty coverage that allows first replacement windshield free.
