I was just driving to work this morning in my 24’ JLU with 3,800 miles. It was 35° outside and I had my defrosters on because I don’t like heat beating on me while I drive. Out of nowhere my gorilla glass windshield splits from the bottom center with no rock impact on a smooth road.
I’ve read on here these guys are super expensive. Do I have any luck with warranty? What are y’all’s suggestions?

In previous years the gorilla Glass came with a 100% replacement warranty for like a year or two I think.

That sucks. I've heard nothing but bad things with the gorilla Glass. I don't think it was too expensive from factory orders in the past, like three or $400. And with the warranty, it kind of makes it a good deal.

That does suck though, because they Don't seem to be any bit better than the less expensive factory windows.

GG may not be the end all as far as preventing chips and cracks from road debris but it's no different from the factory glass when it comes to what happened to you. There are numerous people on this forum that had the exact same thing happen with the non GG windshield.

Mine cracked from the bottom middle as well. No apparent stone chip or anything. Mind you, I did have other areas that had stone chips, but no cracks.
2 cracks radiated from right in the middle and went each way like 2 rainbows.
if you have to pay extra for replacement GG, don’t.

some times you don't know you have a little rock chip you don't know about as it can be the size of a pin and the defroster causes it to crack and run. If they are near the edge of the glass they tend to crack and run as soon as the defrost warms up on a cold day.

I’m kind of on that route but mine has the internal antenna.
when I replaced mine they did say they could get replacement glass with antenna for much cheaper. in my case the dealership was paying so did not matter but it is an option to get less expensive glass if paying out of pocket.

A buddy of mine got his warrantied in TX, but I think it's still on backorder (also 24 with internal).

Safelite was able to get the OEM version of our GG (non antenna). Insurance took care of over deductible just like normal for here.

The first first replacement in the first two years is covered under warranty.

I've had a similar issue in my Mini a few weeks after having a new windshield put on. The shop found a tiny impact spot near the edge of the windshield.
