No, sorry, I'm not saying you said it was weaker. I am the one saying it is weaker, for grit wiped by a wiper blade. Or maybe it's the same for that as regular glass. After all, I've never taken a regular windshield on a trail to introduce grit between the it and the wiper blades. Although, I've been in many a strong wind in a Wyoming prairie setting and don't recall windshield scrapes.

Exactly. Because the layer in question is on the inside.

My 2021 Rubicon 4xe windshield just cracked this morning. Driving down the 101 not too cold out., but I had my defroster on, and it cracked right in the middle underneath the windshield wiper

No cars were in front of me to throw rocks

something going on with jeep glass or jeep glass frame. My 2013 never broke over 50,000 miles, my 23, broke at 3 months sitting on my driveway.

I would have paid extra, to buy a piece of glass 1/4 inch thick like they used to be in the 60's.

Search Amazon for Joytutus Jeep jl defroster vent plugs. They mostly block the center defroster vents and have deflector vents that push it to the sides where you need the defrost and should prevent the center of the windshield cracking. I can’t find a way to link from my phone. I use them on my ‘23 and they work great and look like they came with the Jeep.

Have you closely inspected the crack? Most of the time you'll find a chunk of glass missing.

For me they rarely crack immediately upon impact. It usually shows up a few days later.
