This.

It takes up zero usable space since it's up above the passenger's toes, which is a huge benefit.
The strap attachment you mention is extra unfortunately. At least it wasn't included in my suspension kit. But you're right, it tucks it nicely out of the way.

Oh, that's extra now? That sucks.

I use a hi lift jack base with the factory scissor jack…it’s nice and wide to help with softer ground…… I also use my M18 impact with a 13mm socket to spin it, raises it in seconds……

Where did you get that? I want one.

Amazon….. type in…. Hi Lift jack base, there’s a few different ones….
I might order one of those too. I like to be prepared, I'll add it to my collection; 3 jacks, fix-a-flat, plug kit, hairspray and a lighter.

Yeah, I tried a lot of different things, hi lift, bottle jack, etc….. But since I only need to lift it a few inches to change/fix a tire, I came up with this idea, it’s simple, and the jack is already in there so not taking up any more space….. the base sits in the rear cubby with a few other things…… works out great, best part is not having to spin that crank by hand…?

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I say from personal experience with the factory scissor jack. Take it out of your Jeep casually walk over to your trash can and throw it away. I used the factory scissor jack one time. My Jeep is on 37s. While it will lift the Jeep up high enough, it is dangerously unstable. I was able to get the tire off. When I went to put the tire back on, the Jeep fell off the scissor jack. Lucky for me the axle landed inside of the wheel so the whole Jeep did not fall to the ground. I reset the jack and the tool that you use to screw the jack up failed and broke so I could no longer use jack. I was on completely level ground. I was in a parking lot. I ended up borrowing a jack from a guy with a Ram truck.

Normally, I would have a bottle jack with me and a jack base. I carry the bottle jack with me when we off road and travel. That day, we had come home from traveling and I had cleaned the Jeep out of just about everything. We were just going to run some dirt roads and such when I had a tire failure.

The only think worse than a scissor jack failing is you injured or stuck under a Jeep with no help.

Someone has probably mentioned this already, but AEV makes a great jack base that’s about 4” thick and fits into the cubby with the jack. I’m on 37s with a 4” lift and it works great when needed.

If you get the (apparently now optional) strap it takes up no usable space since it mounts above the passenger's feet.

I thought it was bad to lay bottle jacks over on their side?

I've only used my 12,000 lb. bottle jack and 6-2"x4"x8" boards once in 25 yrs.
It's always been on its side. Hope it works if I need it. Super Swampers at 5lbs
spin off. Watched a wheel/tire blow thru a garage wall with WD40 and lighter.
