Is there a reason why Jeep does not offer a factory hood lock for the Wrangler? Seems like an obvious thing to do.
I truly don’t understand why the Wrangler never incorporated an interior hood latch lock like pretty much everybody else, they still can keep the latches for nostalgia and still have an interior latch handle so we are not all trying to figure out whose going to release a good latch kit that we can spend $$$ on so we don’t get stuff stolen from under our hood but good luck to the thief that tries to get to that ESS battery ....lol
Well you are correct with the top and doors off but I’m sure they could put in a keyed cylinder as standard equipment, I’m sure they could offset the cost of this by not giving us that toolkit or reduce the size of that jerrycan key remoteA good interior hood latch lock keyed off your Fob key...that's what I'd want.
An interior hood latch isn't much of a deterrent when your running exposed, be it windows, doors, top, or top down.

That or a crowbar I suspectDoes it needs separate key?
Yes, it looks like it's a round key. It looks good and better then nothing for sure but I worry about the elements. There is no cover for the keyhole, the tumbler pins are exposed. Would definitely need to make sure it stays moisture and rust free. Icing is another problem.Does it needs separate key?
True. But it's not an either-or proposition. The Jeep could (should) have both.Removing the classic hooks and hinges would not go over well.
Yes... it does need a separate round key. And yes, you lose the standard latch. But between that choice or having it stolen... well... it took me all of 2 seconds to hit the order button. Is it a perfect solution? Nope. But a imperfect solution is better than no solution.Does it need separate key?
I am quite satisfied with the locking latches. If anything they clamp down slightly more than the factory latches, but not so much that there's any metal to metal contact (don't know if that's even possible). The locking mechanism is simple but sturdy. As someone above mentioned it would take a crowbar to pry them off.Eric @TJ2018 , just in case I follow your play here, are you happy with the grip (so far at least) these locks have on your hood?
Is it no worse than that of the lockless OEM latches?
