@chris18jlrubi - glad to hear you’re in a good spot. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

We've been offroading in Moab and Silverton for 2 weeks and have had the ESC and ESS warnings randomly several times. All fuses seem to be seated. When Jeep is turned off and restarted everything is normal. When we get back to Florida next week will have our dealer check it.
Have you had this issue looked at/resolved? I have the same exact thing where both the ESC and ESS come on together when in 4H.

my issue happened to be the hose coming off the pump. There's another hose coming off the master cylinder with a sensor in it. That was the first hose they replaced with the second vacuum pump.

If you're having issues like I had, unless they test each part, they'll need their district tech to test/monitor the system and figure out what is off. Up to the point of the tech coming, they kept throwing parts at it thinking it was this or that. IT wasn't until they actually identified the issue (vacuum pump unable to pull enough vacuum to turn itself off) that they were able to fix it. I did about 200 mile Friday and another 70 yesterday without any issues (in addition to a couple short trips during the week last week). Star case 34582353 if they need/want a reference.
Do you have any information on the part replaced or where the hose is on the vacuum pump so I can check? My Service ESS comes on after slow driving either on or off the road. Turn off the vehicle it goes away, then will come back.

@Mantacon if i remember correctly there’s a hose off the master cylinder with a sensor in it and another hose coming from the vacuum pump. They replaced the one with the sensor first but it didn’t do anything. When they replaced the hose off the pump, everything was fixed. Unfortunately, I don’t have a part number. From what i was told, there was a small leak in that hose which didn’t allow the system to pull enough vacuum to turn the pump off. This was cause the pump to overheat and throw a code. The first time they replaced the pump, the tech said it was running hot (but it took some time for the code to show up). Best of luck!

Alright, I'm gonna have to jump under the hood and take a look. Thanks for the insight.

Got an update on the star case regarding this issue and the vacuum pump. It doesn't mention the replacement of the hose but replacing the pump. Hope it helps. I'm working with my dealer contact right now to see what the next steps are.

@Mantacon - fingers crossed for you. I had my pump replaced twice, the PDC, some finagling of wiring, and the hose with the sensor replaced before they called in the district engineer. He came in and hooked up to the system to find out it wasn’t pulling enough vacuum. Swapped the pump side hose with one off the lot and it fixed it. Hoping you get yours resolved quickly. Everything with mine was a guess until the engineer was able to connect to the system to get all the data to analyze.

Update: Chrysler wants the transmission to investigate what is going on. They sent out a new transmission to replace mine and hopefully will be here tomorrow and installed in the next couple of days. Hoping that I have it back first of next week...Fingers crossed...
I have my 2018 Wrangler with 17,000 miles on it into the shop for the 2nd time in a week for the esc light and the @! going on. Last week they replaced the BAS module. I am concerned that the whole jeep swerved when pressing on the brake prior to the esc light coming on. Waiting for the technicians at the dealership to come up with a answer.

So I may have narrowed it down. On the invoice, it mentions “vacuum pump produces vacuum, but gets very hot when running.” Since it cleared after I got home, I thought I’d take it for a drive so that I could get a picture (in the event someone didn’t believe it). It didn’t come in as I drove; however, once it sat idle for 30 seconds with the engine running, it came on. Something tells me my Jeep is producing too much heat and causing system issues. A new vacuum pump and a new abs module shouldn’t have the same issue if they are the underlying cause. Sounds to me, based on my mechanics skills of zero, that it’s continuing to get hot and throw the code. Anyone else with this issue figure out how to make it go?
My 2018 Wrangler is in the shop for a 2nd time a week for the esc light coming on and the @! light on. I also took a picture and left my car running so the service advisor could see it. Its been there all day and the technician hasn't been able to diagnose the problem yet.

@lovemyjeep - mine was the vacuum pump hose coming off the vacuum pump. Had a service mgr from another dealership have a Jeep in with the same code as mine. He said the check valve in the hose was installed backward on that Jeep. It took 3 or 4 new hose orders to get one that was manufactured properly. Maybe an issue early on. Mine has a 3/2018 build date.

Take that info with a grain of salt. With all the electronics and computers in these things, it could be anything.

The dealership said it was the vacuum pump and replaced it. I drove it for the 10 mile ride home and the light stayed off. I am optimistically hopeful!!!

@lovemyjeep good news! Best of luck! I hope it stays off. For what it’s worth, keep your fingers crossed. mine came back on within a couple days. They replaced the vacuum pump twice, the pdc, and the master cylinder side hose before they finally called an engineer in. My hope for you is that the service techs actually diagnosed a problem and didn’t just throw a part at the symptoms. I found a better dealership for service since my issue got resolved but I haven’t had a problem since they (district engineer) found the actual problem - not enough vacuum caused the pump to run continuously and overheat, found the pump side hose to be the issue. Just relaying my experience and hoping yours is better.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I have only driven the car locally since I got it back. The light usually goes on when I am driving longer distances which I will be doing later this week. .I will keep you posted!

my service ESC light has been coming on the last few months. Its increased in frequency to where now its coming on every time I drive. Ive been waiting about 4 months to get it into the local dealer but they always say they have no rentals available. Why are these dealerships so hard to deal with? Never return calls or emails or texts, I have to show up in person to talk to anybody and then get fed a bunch of b.s.....I love my jeep but I hate the service experience so far....and this sounds like it may be a multiiple visit fix :headbang:
